I move all the time, and the off-duty line doesn't change or activate the drive line. I get about 2 miles before the duty status changes, and I think most, or all, QC's are set up to allow some movement. I think you're OK, but it's your reset, not mine. If your company has a line 5, that's safest. Or, you could call your logs people (or dispatcher maybe) and just ask them what's the tolerance.

Why will you have to move your truck?

500 feet is nothing, slowly glide at 1 mph and try and leave your foot off the pedal.Heck drivers drive around their terminal on off duty status and that doesn't trigger the elogs.

It depends entirely on how your company has your elogs configured. We use Peoplenet and my company has it set to auto switch to line 3 if the truck moves more than 3/4 of a mile but there's tricks to get around it. Whenever I need to move the truck more than the allowed distance all I have to do is shut the engine off and restart it ever 3/4 of a mile.

You better do a pre-trip before you move that truck....... LOL

My QualComm when at Gordon didn't change from 'off-duty' to 'driving' for 2 miles from where parked and off-duty. Some considered those 'free' miles. You might call Safety and see if you get a straight answer or do a test. That's what I did, drove, stopped, checked distance and status; repeated until finally kicked over to 'driving'.
Took 2 miles.Lepton1 and 4wayflashers Thank this. -
Take Qualcom out, place under drive tires, run over it, problem solved.

They say I have to leave the fuel island. Just kidding. Wanted to get to the receivers door but being labor day they moved my time back two hours anyway. So no problems. Thanks for all the good advice everyone.Lepton1 Thanks this.

I was with QC when they went to elogs. I don't know if this is still accurate but at that time, as long as you stayed under 14mph you weren't driving. I used to spend the night @ a mile from a consignee. In the AM, i would run @ 12 mph down the side street to my delivery. Was actually done with that before I started my day on the elogs. Did that every week.
