I'm curious to know if there currently any women over 45 who've gotten hired on after completing the orientation and TE training?

I am very interested in this company yet, concerned. I understand they have a stringent physical abilities test that is something like this. But, there is 1 part that requires you to lift 40lbs then 50lbs 3 reps each consecutively from a table about waist high to over your shoulders. Afterwards, they monitor your heart beat via a finger monitor.

I have been increasing my endurance and I am not afraid of heights. However, my arms are weak and I already have an irregularly high heart beat rate even while resting (always have). I compensate for weak arms by using my strong legs - for example, I'd crouch down to get up under dead weight instead of picking it up from off the table with my arms alone.

There is no doubt that I can become a tanker yanker, I am confident in my abilities. However, I don't want to waste my time or theirs. I've received an offer from them.

Otherwise, can anyone advise of a reputable tanker company that hire's newbies but, do not include this particular physical abilities test in the Central FL to Savanah, GA area?

I've already sent out applications to:
    -Indian River
    -CTL
-Prime (who I found out does the same tests)
    -Kenan
    -Foodliner
    -Tidewater

So far, I've received offers from Indian River, Schneider Bulk and CTL.

    Thank you in advance!

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Home time in FL will be better with Indian River or CTL.
Indian River does lots of West Coast runs & I don't think CTL runs out there.

One driver posted he failed the Schneider Bulk heart rate test by just a couple of points and they wouldn't give him a second chance to try again.

You're the second new CDL grad that posted Indian River offered employment. Didn't know they hired new drivers; good information.

So the younger you are, the higher the heart rate allowed? I'm no doctor but wouldn't a higher heart rate mean you are more out of shape and likely to have health issues?
With that formula a 45 year old would fail at 158, a 23 year old would be good up to 177... seems backwards to me.

Yes, target heart rate parameters decline with increasing age. The crappy thing about that in my case is that I am athletic and can easily maintain a heart rate of 155bpm while on my rowing machine for 40 minutes and carry on a conversation. That's a negative side to "rules", not everyone fits the mould, conversely, it takes more exertion to boost my heart rate than it would most people given the same amount of work.

The health tests done by employers use generalizations and don't take into account each individual's health status. That being said generally speaking it is more dangerous for an older persons heart rate to be 180 than a young healthy person's.

You forgot two big ones in central Florida. Oakley and Bynum. Not sure of Oakley requirements. I actually went to Bynum orientation and left just before getting my truck for family reasons but we never did a physical test
