Usually somewhere in the ballpark of 35,000 to 40,000 a year average

Get all the endorsements plus TWIC & a passport and you can gross $55K-$65K your first 12 months as a solo driver. This is after all training is complete and you're cut loose as solo.bigkev is correct for those drivers that jump on the first job offer and don't shop around or you include training time for that first year. Too many new drivers are excited and just want to hit the road without looking at the big picture.
hal380, TruckDuo, mtnbikeadam and 1 other person Thank this. -
already preregistered to get my twic card, need to make some money before i can afford my passport. i am scheduled to start with the swift school the end of this month.

If you're in the hiring area, you can jump right in to tankers with Schneider. They pay for private CDL school. Swift school is OK, they do a good job with new drivers. Tankers and LTL are where the good money is for drivers just starting their career.

if i had it to do all over again, i'd would have tried to start with tankers. just sayin...

On the very low end expect 500 /week.
Assuming you do your research and go OTR ,you can easily get 38 cents per mile and run 2,500 mile a week . Thats 2,500x.38=$950. Deduct say 30% for taxes and you get 665/week x4= 2660 take home a month
Don't forget you get to live in your truck for free well OTR ,so its effectually $,3500+mtnbikeadam Thanks this. -

2650x52x.41=$56,560 .
So I would have to agree with you ,now if you job hop after 3-6 months it would be doable but then are you really new by that point?
