That's not a new game. It's an insurance scam that my company deals with every day. In the past we took our security department and went out for many months following our trucks to catch these people. They had the scam on camera and enough evidence to go to the police. They nailed the group but as everyone knows a new scam team will show up. With us being "Deep Pockets" this is the main reason the company installed cameras in the cab.

As I remind my friends on FB, you will only brake check a semi once, your ghost will have many chances for a do over. Couple of years back, had an older guy in a mid-70's Caddy try to merge into one of our day cabs. Did a number on the front rim, left some lovely marks on the caddy. Cops were called, caddy driver got a ticket. He tried to fight it, first in City court, then county court, lost both times. Then tried to sue for damages, not once, but three times, lost all three times.

I fielded a call one morning from a female Illinois state trooper claiming a lady driving a Geo prism on a chicago beltway at 0300 was struck from behind, not once but twice by one of our owner operators. Said our driver musta been sleeping the woke up and drove off.
The trooper agree that it was bizzare 'cause if he was sleeping and overtaking a Geo Prism he would have run right over it and there wouldn't be a second time.
Never heard from them again.
