How many applications have you submitted?

Have you tried the "Seeking Employment" thread on here?

I understand about the wife holding you back; my wife is 4'11" and she had to hold me back just recently on the subway in China. Some guy probably in his 20's much bigger than me decided he was going to take up 2 seats in the subway car trying to show off for his girlfriend. He claimed I broke his finger when I moved him into one seat and sat down in the seat beside him. My wife overheard him say he was going to "get" me before he gets off the subway. I said, "No problem, he won't be the first I've jammed a finger deep into the eye ball." Nothing happened after that. She's still griping at me about it.

Just so I get this straight.....if the guy had called you back and offered you a job you'd have taken it but since he hasn't his equipment is junk and won't pass a pretrip? If it won't pass a pretrip why were you out test driving it? If you're ood with running unsafe equipment maybe you shouldn't be on the road?

You didn't say why you have been disabled but with worker comp insuance rates as high as they are, I can see why that might raise a flag to some companies. Not all though. I'm sure there are some companies out there that will give you a chance. Call and talk to some recruiter at some of the big carriers. I know, that may not sound good to you working for Schneider or the like but it can get you a start and some needed working time. As stated above, try the "Seeking Employment" thread on this forum.

Does your work history HAVE to say "Disability"? Can't it just be Social Security?

People might be a little skittish to hire you, thinking the disability was caused by injury...and would you injure yourself while employed by them, and collect Workman's Comp.
In a way...I can understand that (not necessarily agree...but understand).

On the other hand...you are collecting tax payer dollars, and you KNOW you can work. I would give you a job just based on that. Would rather pay you an honest wage for honest work...than to have you just sit around and collect it for nothing (there seems to be enough of that crap the way it is).

What you're most likely going to have to do is explain why you were on SOCIAL SECURITY (stop saying 'disability'), and probably have a couple letters Notarized for "Work History" purposes. And then just apply to everyone.

You need to be less forthcoming become forgetful about this disability. My ex brother-in-law was a finalist for a job, he had answered the question: Have to you ever filed for workman's compensation? honestly. He injured his back working as a supermarket clerk decades back. It was completely resolved and a non-issue. But when they heard about it and that it was a back injury, he could just hear them say.....NEXT!

It is certainly not just for trucking jobs that you will have problems. Workers comp disability almost makes you untouchable and ss disability is just a step ahead of that.
