Con-Way Truckload Drivers: What's Your 20? (2014 edition)

I got my CDL in 2008, and did my obligatory year OTR. But in your case with a newborn it makes perfect sense to be home more. Time goes by way too fast!

 

I got mine in 2009, after I got out of the Marine Corps. It was either being a teacher, or truck driver. Teaching didn't pay good at all, so my decision was made. My retirement pension is really good, but I don't want to live solely on that. By the time I retired, I was commissioned. A little over 3,800 per month isn't bad for a pension, and I am grateful, because I know I earned it.

 

Yep, I hear you. Thanks for the calculations by the way. Our son graduates Marine Boot Camp on Sept 12.....we are taking a week off there!
