Hi everyone,
I'm in the weekend program at Fontana, CA Roadmaster and will be done on Oct. 5th. I've spoken to a few companies and would just like opinions from drivers with experience in these company's.
May
Con-way
Knight
Melton
I would like honest open opinions but I'm not interested in hearing from people who just like to ##### and whine about how they got "screwed" by a company when everyone knows full well this life just isn't for you. I hope that makes sense lol
Almost done with school .... where do I go??????

If you can get on with Conway, do it. I been with them 1 1/2 years, good company. Good pay, @2,800 miles/month or more.
rroney7768 Thanks this. -
Starboyjim, do you work the dock as well as drive a total of 14 hours before taking a 10 hour break?
-
Well, my experience is limited. But, I'm with Melton and still on the trainer's truck. I've met a lot of drivers here and all speak highly of this company. Haven't really heard any complaints so far.
I haven't been here long enough to really form an opinion or have anything to compare it to but I like what I see so far.
The pay is good, nice equipment, good health benefits, rider and pet policy are the reasons I chose Melton over other companies.
You can always message me on here if you have any questions. Good luck in whatever you choose to do.rroney7768 and GenericUserName Thank this. -
Con-way freight starts cdl grads out on the dock I believe. Experienced drivers go directly to driving. Con-way truckload doesn't start you on the docks.
-
My top priority is dog policy. Melton is at the top of my list. I'll definitely message you. Thanks.
-
Are you with truckload or freight? OTR?
-
Off topic here, but how has it been at Roadmaster for you? I'm working on getting into that place. Do you know if they have new classes starting every week?
-
Its good. They have good instructors and they teach you well. What they teach is what you'll need for the dmv test, not necessarily real world but we get that when we start training at our first company.
I'm not sure how often new classes start. I'm in the weekend program, 8 weeks, new classes start every month. -
I have heard good things about melton as well and if you want to do flatbed i would go for it. More money in that niche of trucking. No experience with them or any of the other companies listed though.
