    Paris, Texas ?? I didn't see no tower, just a Kimberly-Clarke plant.

He clearly meant Paris, MO silly. Brasch. The Tower of Protective Powa! Smoke Detector Capitol of the Wuh-Uld!

Easy folks. My Dad's side of the family farms most of Monroe County, MO. Used to visit my farm cousins in the summers. Fantastic folks in a fantastic place. Never could figure out why my cousins wanted out of a place I wanted so bad to be in.

Guess the grass always seems greener.

Erma Bombeck wrote a book in the late '70's called The Grass Is Always Greener Over The Septic Tank. It was a social commentary on suburbia. Funny stuff. I remember this quote because I used it in a term paper in college, (returning as an adult student) when the internet first went public.

"It struck with little warning and attacked the weak, the bored, the vulnerable seeking relief from the monotony. Its name was television and by 1966, it would enslave sixty-million families."

I compared the burgeoning "World Wide Web" and this high speed DOS overlay called Windows 3.0 to TV back then. Hmmm. Might have been onto something and the C I got for being "a little bit too out there" might have been a little low. Wish I'd have bought stock in Microsoft back then.

I, too, took some college classes in computers back in the beginning, when nobody could see what was going to happen...before a guy named Gates decided to buy that little overlay. I clearly remember a professor in my Basic language class telling us if we really wanted to control our financial future we should change our focus early, get an undergrad degree with as many computer classes as we could, then go to grad school and get a PhD in computer science. We all laughed. Nobody knew.

But it didn't take long to see the truth of her words.

Today was a nice easy day. Spent the past couple of days in the middle of nowhere Nevada. Oh what fun. Picked up a load of onions in Yerington. Of course, being onions, they are stored in a dry warehouse with no kind of cooling. Took all that night and part of this morning for the trailer to get back to temp. 52° start/stop. Probably the only produce we run like that. First time for hauling onions. Usually see those on flatbed trailers. Oh, the smell hits you hard when you open that vent door for temp check.

Ran down US-95 all the way down to Kingman, Az. Not to bad at all. Drove past "Area 51", drove past an Air Force base where they where playing....... I mean training with drone aircraft, about 50 suicidal jack rabbits, and got passed by a DeLorean. The drive through Vegas was not to bad. Mostly light traffic. It was daytime so no lights. Got on 40 in Kingman and at Exit 59, there was an accident in the right lane and the left lane is closed for construction, so that had the highway at a stop. Managed to hit the exit and pulled into Loves for some truck and reefer fuel and break. I am running recaps, so, I only have 7 hours to run tomorrow, but that is cool. Load isn't due in San Antonio H.E.B til Sunday.

Forgot to add that Loves is having a 1 million point sweepstakes. You get one entry for every purchase you make while swiping you Loves card. Unfortunately, diesel purchase does not count and neither does buying stuff with points.
