In some European countries they may check your engine and if they see that EGR, DPF, DEF were deleted you get big problem.

There are throutle control and EGR control to keep stehiometry in range and to avoid wrong stehiometry (and emission out of range) both valves operate slowly.

IMO, CNG engines are cool option for trucking marking. Really in Ukraine CNG trucks are used for domestick shippping, becouse no sleeper is alowed (only LPG trucks may have sleepers) and CNG tanks are heavy, so usually CNG trucks run in 100 miles area.

It actually has more to do with the time that it takes for the cng to get from the mixing chamber to the cylinders as there is almost two feet from the mixing chamber to the intake valves. When you take your foot off of the throttle you still have that gas that was asked to be delivered still being delivered to the cylinders so you get some lag. I try not to drive them unless I have too.

Swift has a few running from Dallas to Houston. There is a lot more than I thought. AT&T has most of their vans running on CNG. I used a fast fill nozzle the other day and it sounds like a small gun firing when it releases. Scared me, almost dropped the nozzle. The motor is using less fuel and is more usable in the lower rpm.

We have had automatics. Didn't care for them. It took a few days to get accustomed to the characteristics of the engine. Now I can row through the gears fine.

You are spot on about the automatics, I haven't seen another CNG truck with a manual.

Yep, I agree this delay is notisable so with manual it would be not so easy to shift.

it is related not only with throutle and EGR delay and emission things, but not only. Other thing is that NG octane ration is over 103, so for acceleratnig over 25% dgr and it may cause backfire, so fast acceleration is imposoble, becouse if not to advance spark too hot exhaust may damage exaust valves and cat converter.

My LPG engine automaticly switches to gas at fast acceleration.

Other problem of CNG engines is very difficult start at below zero temperatures. There are to ways to start - to start with gasoline ore to use gas ore diesel block heater like Ebershpaher Hydronic ore Webasto Termo (80, T-90 ore other).

Unfortunatly if u have CNG engine - no sleeper allowed. Only LPG trucks may have sleeper. LPG goes down in case of leak, methane goes up. U must see methan sensor inside cab.
