I see their ads talk a lot about family home time but talking with their drivers they tell me they are usually out about 3 weeks. I couldn't live with that - especially when we had kids. Good family home time to me is at least almost every weekend.
Hope you get on with a good company that doesn't pay on HHG milesand doesn't lie, cheat or take advantage of you. -
Tyson moves chicken!
anything to do with chicken means long wait
times loading and unloading.
never, ever work for a company that likes to
pull chicken. -
Working for a protein company myself (JBS) I remember sitting at those nice smelling plants. Chicken seemed like the worst smeller of them all. once I got my experience I was done working/living in a truck for 5 to 6 weeks at a time only to have a few days off at home. Crazy thing is I make as much working 4 days a week driving a daycab. Hold me up at Coremark, walmart no problem I'm getting paid by the hour. Union health benefits 147 a month for the whole family.
My hat is off to the OTR driver because I know how hard you work. Its too bad most companies don't appreciate all the time and dedication most drivers give them.hossdaddyswife Thanks this. -
I drove team for them for a couple years. Our highest miles for a week was 8000. They ran our cans off alot of the time. Were very pleased with them. I went solo and still got 2800 to 3200 per week but spent alot of time at their plants waiting on loads. The trick was to take my 10 hr break while waiting and then run my ### off with the load. I moved to Pac.nw and had to quit because they couldnt get me regular hometime there. I was pretty happy there except for sitting at those smelly chicken plants and even worse the kill plants were horrifying when I could hear pigs screaming while being killed. Guess I am glad Im not enduring that any longer! Sounds like they keep too many drivers and the mileage per driver has dropped since I was there over a year ago, lots of companies do that crap though. I think the days of 3500 miles per week otr are a thing of the past.

That's all type of slaughter house freight hand....

Amazing how these outfits expect drivers to sit at a plant all day for free. It's like your time is worth nothing to them.
hossdaddyswife, Toomanybikes and 074344 Thank this. -
I second that emotion.
Precisely why I refuse to pull reefer these days. I'm glad people do, because I LOVE to eat, but it ain't gonna be me. -
Anybody that's been in the trucking biz for awhile knows with reefer you are going to have to sit at paking houses.Detention is pretty much the same with all companies that haul general freight.Does'nt matter big or small, with exp drivers learn to judge for themselves about a company whether then belive recruiters and their glamourous ads.
Toomanybikes and 074344 Thank this. -
