This is mainly for O/O's who are operating APU's.
Of the APU's out there who is getting the best after sales service and response when the unit goes down?
Which manufacturers have the best service network and most of all response when you have a problem?

I have a rig master I just bought and I only have 20 hours or so on it. I was happy till yesterday when I found out they removed my frame brace and quarer fender to install it and forgot to tighten everything up so I ruined a fender when it hit the tire and the cross member was loose and lost a few bolts...... what ever you do if/when you get one, go over everything with a fine tooth comb.. now I have to steam over this till Mondayso I can call and bich at them to get them to pay for the repair. I am sure they will but I get steamed every time I look at my missing fender!

I bought a used truck with a Rigmaster on it. The company that owned the truck previously had done a couple of unusual things - bypassing the access door safety switch, etc. Rigmaster technical support was extremely helpful with that and a subsequent electrical problem - even going so far as to walk me though it while on my cell phone.

I saw this unit listed on the Mack trucks site. I have no experience with it but from what I saw on the video I like it. Even if you have to add more batteries the unit weight would be about the same as an APU and using NO fuel at idle would make up for any difference if it does come to a little more weight.

Well I bought a 6500 watt diesel generator out of LA n mounted it on the frame n run everything from a rooftop to the ceramic heaters n all the cooking stuff ect ect ect off of it and the unit cost me under 1000$ to boot !!! Hasn't failed me yet ???

Batteries aren't every thing they are cracked up to be!!!!!!!!
For one thing they have a working life of BARELY 10 hrs in idle conditions. When the temp drops below 32 or rises above 80-85 they do not have the ability to properly heat or cool a truck.
If you are on your 34 reset you are going to end up idling the truck for many hrs to recharge the batteries.
I'll stick to a tried and proven APU set up. -
I can tell to stay far away from idlebuster brands!!! $8500 and all I have a weight additive!

Thermo King(TK) used to sell and warranty(?) the RigMaster, They now sell, warranty, and service the Tripac, a unit plumbed into the truck's engine. It is much quieter and uses a HVAC unit mounted in the back wall of the sleeper. They stopped selling the RigMaster and warranty service was spotty and sporadic at best, even when they were selling it. They blamed the manufacturer. There has been trouble with the units, I have one installed in the tracttor I drive, last fall a good mechanic spent two days on it trying to get it to work, the control panel or something integrated with it malfunctioned, it would start but wouldn't shut down. There are about 1500 hours on the unit and it is junk, not worth fixing.
I know they have changed the units considerably, but they still have that easily removable and losable cover with latches that fail in numerous ways, I was told that the cover costs $900 through parts, I managed to find the one that fell off of my truck.
The units were not tolerant of dirt, and livestock haulers go out on gravel roads and yard, dirt ruins the alternator and other electrical. I wouldn't give much for a used unit already installed unless I was sure it was working. If you do end up with one, keep it cleaned regularly and don't operate it dirty.
I like the simple gen-set, with a heating and cooling unit run by electricity. -
Brick does the pp have an adjustable thermostat? IE set for 76 degrees and forget it or is it an on or off deal?
