That was a great response, except for one thing....you obviously didnt read my post.
I never said all Community School programs were no good. If you read my last sentence it says clearly, every school is different. There is no guarantee that picking one type of school over another is will get you quality training. Some private owned schools are fantastic, some are horrible. The same goes for community school programs. In the end the student must due their due diligence and they might be making a huge mistake ruling out a private owned school in their area because they came on here and read a thread in which some guy who knows nothing is giving them education advise because he read it here a bunch of times.
As far as me being a recruiter, just like everything....there are good ones and bad ones. I was no nonsense. If you didnt like the message about who I recruited for, then that company wasnt for you and we didnt want you there. I didnt need to sugar coat it, the company I recruited for wanted hard working men who werent afraid to break a sweat and knew how to put in an honest days work. For that they got paid very well. Most of my students made over $60,000 in their first year, some made more.
I will say that while no school is the same, the worse schools I ever went into were community based programs in some of the bigger cities. One of the ones in Houston was like walking into a prison. I always left my laptop and wallet in the car.....I thought I was going to get robbed every time.

Only you know if you're "getting what you paid for" or not. Just remember there's very little connection between a CDL school and reality; their job is to get your license, nothing more. Do what you can to pass the test then learn to drive a truck over the road. Or not. My guess is you'll have difficulty getting your money back, though. But it's just a guess, knowing nothing about the facts.

I took a respite from driving for a little while and worked in a warehouse. The guys in this warehouse got to calling me secretariat because of the way I worked. Of course this pissed off a lot of people because this was the wrong mentality (in their opinion) of working in a union shop.CDLROOKIE Thanks this.

I'd get out of that place ASAP. Find a program that has decent rep, do your research etc. From the sounds of that place, even C.R. England has a better training program. (and they are free if you work with them for so long....).

sent four to dmv yesterday and went 2-4..two passed, two didn't. theirs three of us scheduled for this Friday. im the only first timer. one is trying for the 2nd time and one is going for the FOURTH time. she failed three times and as ya probably know, that means a complete start over so she got alot of experience with the dmv...which isnt a good thing

three days to go and I got a gift from the trucking Gods on Monday!! had an old student stop by for..who knows what. got to talking to him..basically small talk but the conversation got around to dmv tests and skills etc. i mentioned that i was 4 days out and struggling with alley dock. so guy i don't even know says he'll help me cuz hes real good at it. of course the instructor doesn't care because then he doesn't have to be outside( other instructor was at dmv with the 4 people mentioned in the above post) so i got some one on one instruction with this guy for about an hour and something seemed to click because as of Tuesday afternoon, i was hitting my alley dock about 75% so i've at least got a chance now. spent four hours today on roads..although split with the other two that are also testing Friday so about 80 minutes i got which was fine. tightened up the road skills which im pretty comfortable on anyway. the four morning hours i used about 50/50 on alley dock and parallels.
kinda taking a different approach to Fridays test, re thought it and as much as id love to go in and nail everything 100%. another light bulb went on that seems to have taken alot of my anxiety away..i get point, USE EM!! California allows 12 points on skills. im comfortable that i wont need any for straight back or offset which should allow me a pretty good size cushion on the last skill..whether it be alley or parallels. so while working on both, i kept track of how many points i would cost myself if i had to correct my mistakes and when i relaxed a bit and realized that an extra pull up..or whatever..wasn't fatal..i actually did better then when i was so consumed with nailing it perfectly every time. took me awhile but again, the light bulb went on that even the best, most experienced guy out there, isnt gonna hit every mark, every time,every day.... take my time, get it right,use points if i need em and Pass! so as of this posting, my confidence level is going the right direction. ive got 16 more hours to fine tune everything and take my shot
