Has another truck ever tried to run you off the road?

I have had to do exactly what he did, minus coming to a full stop. You either have the choice of braking, because you don't have the option of switching lanes because of traffic, or you run over the vehicle that is running out of ramp and not paying attention and kill the person. I don't want that on my conscience, that I killed some idiot because they weren't paying attention. There are times you don't have a choice if you don't want to kill someone. Most four wheelers are idiots when it comes to trucks and their attention is usually on their phone or the people in the car when they are driving and not on the traffic around them. I didn't read the post as moraramis does this every time someone is merging, just this one incident where the vehicle entering the ramp wasn't paying attention.

So instead of killing the idiot coming up the ramp not paying attention, you unexpectedly slam on the brakes in the travel lane, potentially causing a chain reaction crash that kills innocent people behind you because the traffic behind THEM wasn't paying attention. Excellent. Glad your conscience is clear.

There are a lot of things that can "potentially" happen out there on the road. All we can do out there is be the best professional drivers that we can and react to each incident in the best manner possible given the situation. I would guess that every single driver at some point in their career has had to slam on their brakes to avoid a situation that was not due to their own actions. We can't control the other idiots out here. And if that hasn't happened, chances are that at some point, it will. It is hard to armchair quarterback a situation that you weren't personally involved in because no two situations are exactly the same.

One of the first things I was taught is that it is the job of the vehicle merging to yield. Either they get up to speed or they slow and come in behind you. If there's room to get over, go ahead and get over, if you feel like being nice.

I was climbing a hill in PA in the truck lane. For some reason the truck lane ends before you reach the top of the hill, so I moved over to the center lane. A big truck coming up behind me (he was in the center lane) moved over to the right lane, which was ending. There was no other traffic. I saw he was going to run out of road before he got past me, so I moved over to the left lane. He then swerved across the center lane (now the right lane) and clear over to the left lane and forced me onto the left shoulder. It was pretty upsetting, but I guess he was having a bad day. I just made sure he didn't make mine bad.

It was either stop or kill him because once he saw the writing on the wall that a truck was bearing down on him he hit his breaks too which put more than three quarters of his vehicle into my lane.

I don't understand your line of thinking. So I should of just killed them instead of slowing down? It was a catch 22 situation. I decided not to kill a bunch of kids on the chance that the people behind me were following the law and not following too closely. Turns out I was right and nobody died or wrecked that day.

Unfortunately the real world doesn't work like that. People don't always remember who has the right of way and make dumb choices. As a driver its my job to react to stupid decisions made by others. Because I couldn't switch lanes due to traffic I believe I made the correct choice.
