"The CEO of one particular load brokerage took a lot of heat two years ago for bragging about his companys increasing success, claiming the recession was allowing it to increase its profits because of the desperation of some trucking companies. I doubt he gave any thought to the fact that all of us in the trucking industry would also read this quote, and avoid its freight, but in his urge to boast to shareholders, he exposed what is a cold, hard truth."
Curious on what company said this?

I will never say a freight broker is a bad human being, but what they do for a living is to make as much money off me as possible by shaking my hand and dipping into my pocket at the same time.

Since we are taking the low road approach to business, isn't that what we do as O/O's?
If you don't see any value in what a broker does then don't use them. You clearly can market yourself and should have a list of great paying customers that are calling you daily to see if you have a truck available. -
OK, ready to call BS on the article. First, you really have to question when they don't attribute the comment to anyone. Second, since the claim the CEO took a lot of heat you would suspect the story from the past should be easy to find. Nada, zero, zilch for anything. Not even something like this and you can claim the story is exaggerated.
And then I look at the source of the article and remember the audience. They need truckers to be on their side and what better way than to bash a broker. O/O's that have zero clue about most of the industry they are in will jump to the evil broker story. Facts don't matter. Selling ads regardless is what they are looking to do. -
By no means am I saying there is no value in freight brokers or brokered loads. All I am stating, is the nature of their business strategy is to profit off what the load is paying and what they end up selling it for. A lot of guys assume freight brokers are their buddy, just pointing out at the end of the day, their best interest is held in the $$$. Wont fault them for that and not saying their evil people, just the name of the game.

EXACTLY!!! I found nothing and I felt like I googled it pretty well. It appears to be exaggerated to be honest, thanks for looking into it as well!
