write to the court and beg for mercy. tell them you are a new cdl driver and your very sorry and wasn't aware of the law..and your trainer wasn't the best ...let the court know how this could impact your career and future beg the court for leniency ....

In CAlif you can do one of three choices, first is pay the 250 to 300 bucks depending on which county. second is plead in person, or third is trial by written declaration.
Doing the written Dec has 50/50 odds. It has worked for me, explaining to the judge your version. may gey it reduced to coasting or searbelt both of which are zerro points. your going to get to pay either way. -
The number one lane is the left lane, traffic lanes are numbered from left to right. I think you are counting your lanes the wrong way, or maybe you were on a five lane freeway.

My brother got popped for this in Temecula a couple of years ago. To do a Trial By Declaration he had to mail in the $248 fine with the Declaration, which I helped him craft. The result was he received a $248 check in the mail from the court with the word "EXONERATED" on the stub.
His situation sounds very similar to my brother's, passing two trucks that were blocking traffic in the right two lanes, creating a hazardous situation. I'd have to ask my brother to find his copy of the Declaration we wrote. I cited a law that noted the police officer should have cited the driver in the second lane for impeding the flow of traffic, rather than my brother who was trying to extricate himself from a dangerous situation and help make a safer situation for the vehicles behind him.
OP, can you give the particular law number that was written on the ticket? Do you have a Trial By Declaration on the back of the ticket as an option? -
I got one of those in Ontario passing 2 containers that were drag racing at about 53mph. I waited until traffic was clear, then hammered down to pass. There was a Highway Patrol doing paperwork on the shoulder that I didn't see. He got me, but only gave me a ticket for 3rd lane & not speeding. The fine itself is only $35 but once you add in court costs and all the other fees, it balloons to $277.
After speaking with my Ins. agent, she told me it would not affect my rate next year, so I just paid it. As many times I've been in that 3rd lane passing #######es, I figured I could pay this one.
Hoping for good karma from here on when I'm in that lane!! lol -
That doesn't make any sense. If your ticket lists no option of pleading guilty and submitting $x fine, then you must appear, and the ticket should specifically indicate that.
In your original post you ask "is there any way i can fight it in court ?". So... I think you're just trolling, unless you landed in this country late yesterday, and are from a country that has no traffic code.
I guess you could just be the most helpless driver in the world with an internet connection. -
In Orange County around 6 six years ago it was only one hundred something. Perhaps things changed now.

No, that title should go to his trainer. -
There are companies that offer services to plead down tickets for you, especially useful if you will be on the other side of the nation at the time of your court date. You will still pay full fines and more after their fees, but the charge is sometimes able to be reduced to a lesser violation like a parking ticket instead of a moving violation.
The town gets their money and you keep a better license record.
