I have a shirt tail relative that's still job hunting. Do intermodal companies ever hire drivers with a CDL-A but not been hired before?
Do Intermodal companies hire new (no experience) drivers?

I know Jb hunt requires 6 months prior for their intermodal
-
Most don't that I know of and they want people to have experience in rail yards and ports. Plus you need a twic card.
-
Not if you speak English....
-
Most companies want 6months to 2years experience. I haul to Savannah port my company wanted 1year but took me early since I had otr experience and had drove through the winter. Some compaines will take you without Twic card simply like companies that take you without hazmat that require them but they will let you drop and pickup from yard until your card comes. Try anyway what will it hurt.

Port of Newark doesn't even recognize Twic
being special they have their own card -
Where is that Port located driver?
-
Why would he/she want to get into intermodal? -
My reason was because the company I'm with I'm home daily, only run 238 miles round trip, 100% drop and hook, and I only make $200 less then I did running all 48 otr. Pretty darn good reason for me. But most drivers that run to the port are home daily or every other day unless they rather run like that.

It pays better than OTR and you can be home every night and off two days a week perhaps?
