I know this is an old thread but since I work for them and they still hire a constant stream of new drivers I thought I would answer.
Schneider's pay and benefits were better in the past by account of every senior driver.
You can expect to earn half the Schneider advertised amount of 80,000 per year. You get miles pay ( whatever they give you from about 32 starting to about 50 for senior drivers meaning more than two years ). They pay you for loading 30 and unloading 40 for two hours after which you get 10 if you keep on top of them. That means your pay goes down the longer it takes. You WILL NOT be paid for : Any and all time you spend in the office ( and man will you spend time there ) or at the tank wash, walking through god knows what chemicals hauling hoses, washing pumps, fittings etc . Waiting at a rail yard, hooking or dropping any trailer, including relays, spots, pre or post trips. Looking for trailers that are assigned to another job, drug tests, any medical time, all paperwork, any breakdown or repair, taking truck or trailers to shop for repairs, waiting for clearance at borders, waiting for instructions when anything is wrong like missing paperwork, delivery questions, wrong addresses, etc. bringing trailers back to tank wash and waiting for the entire clean / dry time because they were supposed to be clean but weren't, snow or other weather delays, steaming - ( except in rare cases ), any time between jobs that is near your hub or less than Exactly 24 hours, special trips to food grade washes and waits there. OK -- if your head Isn't spinning by now there's a lot more I can't even remember but it adds up to HUNDREDS of unpaid hours a year. To be continued.....
