Never have understood 2 week notice, the way corporate America is nowadays they don't give a hoot about us anymore,I've seen many people get laid off by companies who didn't bother to give these poor people a "2 week notice".
Just my 2 cents. -
I am sure most companies will allow you to give your notice. It is always good to give the notice, now matter how you think the company would do you. especially after 20+ years. Good luck.

Once a company has accepted your application they will work out a starting date with you. Tell the recruiter when your two week notice will be ending and they will compromise on a starting date. Good luck.

I go along with that. My company would always let the new hires work their two weeks at their old job before coming to us. However, if you wanted to give a two weeks notice to my company they would let you go then and there because they felt you wouldn't put all your efforts on work. But they would pay you the two weeks.
