You seem very angry that we are running Hot Shot trucks. Maybe this type of work is not for you but we have explained why we do it and you still insult us. You should go talk to someone about your anger instead of trolling forums to pass judgement that you have no business passing to other drivers. If you are unhappy with what You are doing it is not Our fault. Spend a few more years than your 2 on the road before you start telling others how it is done. Or at least only tell drivers who are less successful that you.
I enjoyed the almost 20 years I put in on the road. I am retired and bored so I am doing something I enjoy in my free time. Why is that wrong? Or will you insult me for Liking driving now too?
Drive safe.
Those pick-up-truck-trying-to-be-semi things...

he married the company that popped his cherry two yrs ago and now thinks he in the position to belittle others. Typical school grad. Just stop feeding the troll and he will fade away.
His remark on the 2yr verse 20 has a point that we all learn something every day yet it doesn't have dern thing to do with this thread.Gearjammin' Penguin and Sexybuilt Thank this. -
Is it more prestigious being a Hot Shot than a Flatbedder? I'm not so sure you can buy 08 Dually for under $10K that isn't beat up and doesn't need expensive repairs.
-
I have alway defined "hotshot" as a 24/7 on call serving oil fields and home most every night. What this thread is about is LTL flatbed under 40k gross. But the term hotshot has evolved into cross county hauling I suppose.

It is what it is.
Iv towed everything from kias to kenworths and did a stent in LTL flatbed with a dually. All have there place and each attracts a different style of driver
We are all running the same road abiding by the same laws and accomplishing the same goal, hauling freight and making bacon.
With all that said, I love my boat hauling... -
I'm a bit curious about boat hauling. Do you need a special boat trailer, and up to what size boat can you haul without oversize permits? I believe for larger boats you need escort cars front and back. Or do load smaller boats that sit on boat trailers?
-
You cannot exceed 102" wide, or 14' tall with anytype of load, unless you obtain oversized load permits. We move small boats sometimes on our lowboy trailers. They can be tricky though. The larger/heavier boats usually require a specialized trailer with built in supports/bunks to support them.LGarrison Thanks this.

my advice to anyone that wants to hot shot is, get a single axle class 8 with a small sleeper a small m11 or ism and be happy.
-
They're doing it because there is a market for it. There is money to be made and customers to be served, for whom it works just fine. Sorry if that offends your sensibilities, but it's been happening for a long time and probably will continue to, as well. Because, well, there's a market for it.

I have had my commercial driver license for forty years, grandfathered to the CDL and you have had your CDL for what two years. you have a lot to learn.

Right on the money with your answer.flatbedcarrier Thanks this.
