Have you looked into conway and heyl Since this post? I am also looking. I was looking at IRT but Heyl also looks to be a good bet. Even closer to me than IRT. want real world reviews before some recruiters sales pitch so I am prepared to talk. IRT has the miles but so does Heyl. Looking at a side by side as it has been paired down to these two and Byrum. Can we get some info on benefits pay, requirements etc. and look at them all side by side?
    Thanks

Heyl requires 6 mo experience, I have been looking at HO Wolding primarily, but Conway is on the list as well. I really am trying to stay away from any mega carriers but honestly gotta start somewhere. Top of my list so far is HO Wolding, Conway, ffe, Watkins refrigerated(expanding and now hiring company drivers) and Shneider. After I get six months I'm looking at heyl and Raven transport.

I'm finding that living in Florida your options aren't all that great....

Thats true, You pay for paradise. And no State income tax. But remember that great pay up north is baffled by winter storms. What I like about IRT is that all there terminals are in good climate areas. Heyl also. Byrum is a distant third . Conway looks like a mega fleet. Could possibly be wrong but I got that vibe from their website. Im in west pasco too BTW. So hello neighbor! NPR 727 and all that . LOL

I don't consider florida paradise at all lol. I'm from New England and as soon as I can I'm moving back. I live in Holiday... Been looking around for places to park the truck if I'm allowed to take it home on home time. doesnt Indian River require experience??

Says you've been a trucker for 13 years? Where are you at now? I start CDL school in feb... Can't wait but I'm nervous because im 39 and changing careers after doing I.T for 11 years... Always wanted to drive trucks and I'm looking forward to it but I hear so much negative things about it. I know I can make money but I guess change can just be a scary thing

I have had my License for 13 years but only drove a little over two. Just now getting back into it. I worked off side loaders for a couple of companies and am now tugging 48 and 53 footers around town. Im 47 and now that the nest is empty I am looking at pulling up roots and just driving and banking for a few years. That strip mall on the NW corner of moog and 19 has a lot of rigs parked there often. As for me, When I take the leap it will be go big or go home. Selling everything and riding off for a few years. Hitting the reset button so to speak. But its still a few months off before I take that plunge. Got too many loose ends and tax/pay/income reasons. I like my current job. And Im sure I will like OTR. Probably about the same timeframe you start school I will be having a yard sale!

Oh yeah, West pasco is the armpit of Florida, But I still love it, Much better places around the state. Holiday is absolutely horrible Except Out near the swamp. Bunch of Spice smoking junkies. With OTR I hope to drive around and maybe find some place I like better. Pasco has been my home for over 35 years, I would miss florida but not because of Pasco. LOL I lived in Dunedin for a few years and absolutely loved it. In NPR now close to the Gulf in one of the better neighborhoods.
