That's what I would have thought, it made no sense but I've seen that from several of the larger operators in this area. I have a spotless background, never been arrested, no accidents or moving violations over the past decade, never popped on a drug or alcohol screen, nothing that might cause a background to drag on like that.
Just spilled 10 gallons of crude and was fired, can I still find a job hauling crude?

Just got off the phone with the job in MT, it's confirmed and I will be making the 1800 mile drive tomorrow night or Wednesday morning. They committed the job pending my MVR and references which will be done by tomorrow. I'm hoping this job plays out as described, I will update this thread later this week when I arrive and as I start the job. If the job is what I've been told my only real obstacle is going to be the weather, but I'm from Chicago and not a stranger to cold winters. That being said I've lived in Louisiana for the past three years and I'm not looking forward to freezing my ### off again, but 4 weeks at a time for real money I think I can manage.

I work in Eastern Montana. Probably colder than Chicago, but less bite because it is a dryer cold. If you have the right personal gear and the trucks are set up right you should be fine.

I got the formal offer today, I'm leaving tomorrow around noon. About 1800 miles from the Gulf coast of Louisiana to Sidney Montana, should take a day and a half or so. I'll keep this thread updated as I go so people can get an idea for how getting the job, starting and the job itself are.

After 30 hours of driving over 1764 miles through 400 miles of wind advisory and nearly 1000 miles of rain, I arrived in Montana 1230 am today. Lost a steer tire on the way up and had to stop to re-tarp my gear in the back of my pick up a couple of times but I made it and now it's time to see what's what.
First things first, very little of what our agreement/understanding was has proven to be true. I came here understanding that i would be working in Sidney MT only to find out the job is actually in Watford ND. I was expecting to be in my every day housing right off, instead I'm in transient housing for the first week minimum. They have an in depth physical not a normal DOT physical which is fine but I had to do it just a few hours after I got here (this one is kind of my fault, didn't realize they only had 2 days a week for physicals). Pay schedule is every 2 weeks (not that big of a deal) and 2 weeks in the rears (big deal in a transient work force) so it will be 4-5 weeks before I see a real paycheck. There are no drivers here to talk to, only trainers, all drivers are in ND. You have to have OSHA-10 and H2S certs or that will be 2 more days of classes that you are financially responsible for if you are here less than a year. You cannot drive the trucks in training until your drug screens come back 4-5 business days later, so if you are an experienced driver you are looking at an absolute minimum of 1 week training, likely longer (I was expecting to be on my own in 5 days). There are more issues but this is a good starting point. I will get into the specifics more later and my plans next week. For now I have to ride along with a trainer at 330am tomorrow, at my new 6-6 job. Yup, they were honest about nothing thus far, pay might be legit but I won't know until I can talk to other drivers....who are in ND not MT.6 Speed, MazelTruck and eurotrash Thank this. -
