Truck seating designers have spent millions of dollars over the years just designing and testing truck seating to make long-term sitting as comfortable and pain-free as possible for as many as possible. Modern factory seating found in the typical fleet truck may not be "perfect", but it is probably about as good as you're going to get ergonomically and medically speaking, and adding a secondary level of "cushioning" might worsen the overall seating situation (as far as the back is concerned) "over the long haul"
Not to mention, every back issue is unique. Most truck seat cushion options I'm aware of are seeking to create the illusion of a "softer seat" which feels great initially but over time can leave you with pain issues you never had before.
All that said, if he's in a company truck, it's not uncommon to get into a well used truck where the seat has literally been "broken down" due to driver's excess weight or extreme use (oilfield/off-road use). A seat cushion might help this. From what I've heard over many years, you can be fairly certain the company will not replace a driver seat to help your husband's back, unless it is obviously damaged to a severe point. -
Seat cushion is only going to help relieve pressure points on your posterior. For back troubles you are going to need proper back support and seat angle in relation to the back and proper height for upper leg angles.
To be honest, after 3 back surgeries it's time to park the truck. Next stop could be a wheelchair.Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this. -
Thank you, very much! Be safe and God Bless!
