So you can badger/barter/sweet talk the dispatchers to get the loads you want?

there is a rumor you can bribe a certian dispatcher with $20 he'll hook you up with a Florida-California load

I don't want to go to California that bad, so i'm fine

I wonder who I would need to talk to to switch from winter haven to clovis. I could gross 1250 a week just running 4 milk loads to Fort Worth and deadheading back empty. Not saying that's what I'm looking to do, just an example of the potential to make good money here and be off of winter haven dispatch's radar the entire time. Frankly I'm not sure which one of the two is a bigger reward.

Never been to oak farms in San Antonio before and I hope I don't have to come back anytime soon. One guy tells you to park and wait and they'll call when they're ready for you, another guy says go ahead and pull in the bay, two guys asked if I called in. Didn't know I was supposed to and don't know the number. The directions say to scale in and out at the petro. But then I get here and they have their own scale right in front of the guard shack. Wtf is the deal?

What happened to Deadhead75? He started this thread and hasn't posted since july?
    Also @ Spring Chicken:
From what you said, I have to learn where the miles are before i would get the miles. It sounds like you had some influence in the dispatch office you you treat them decently. I imagine if you are a disgruntled pig they could starve you out by giving you crappy runs. As I am LTL but looking to make the conversion to OTR next year, I just want to get the inside scoop between drivers and dispatchers. I personally would love fl to CA runs! I would take that all day long. but I know that is probably not going to happen my first few months. From what I understand they give you smaller runs to test you out. But I am kinda curious about the driver dispatcher relationship.

So I thought I would come back and take a look at the page. I have been home working local and dealing with a few health issues that I have put off for a long time.
I will say this about IRT while I was there I made plenty of money drove nice equipment. I found it a little hard to get home at times but I stood my ground and they usually got me home.
All in all IRT is a decent company. They are much better than many of the companies out there.

    southtruck and REO6205 Thank this.
