Well let's face.............we need money to live!! LOL..............but you are on the right track.......if you love what you do AND are good at it; the money part will follow. If you hate what you are doing; no matter how lucrative.....the money end will always be a struggle.

 

Good luck getting trailer back. If he destroys it could he be charged with destruction of property??? I'd look into that.

 

When firing an employee, here's an alternative: Ques: what was the actual monetary damage incurred? it sounds like no money was actually lost.

Alternative to firing: suspend the O/O from working that specific account. & Counsel the O/O, identify why the driver lost focus on why he is there...for profit.

The Carrier loses out when they fire an employee or O/O...they both bring in nice revenue. Termination should be a last resort measure when the individual begins to increase your operational costs.

Suspension is a useful tool, where you can apply it to a specific account or period of time. This tool will allow you also to save face with the broker, by reassuring the broker that you are focused to their needs by eliminating a problem.

 

I disagree. Hang a suspension. Sounds way too politically correct for me. She fired him and was in the right in doing so. If she suspends him from this account, what happens at the next shipper? Some people just aren't cut out to be o/o and this guy is one of them.

Termination is always there & doesnt require any extra work. To earn money requires work & to correct a persons behaviour is work. Im just saying, maybe there is another approach when earning a dollar.

This rule, sec.f when working with a difficult person: "...upon termination of the lease agreement, as a condition precedent to payment, the lessor shall remove all identification devices of the authorized carrier...and return them to the Carrier..."

 

You have all his tractor stuff, lisc and make, serial numbers. Call the FBI and tell them it's been stolen and where you think he is. Call the DOT in IN and have them put out a BOL for the trailer. You could get him back in and then call a Sheriff and have him unhook the trailer in front of him then send him on his way. Don't let people threaten you. I fired a guy for disappearing for 2 days at a time and sold his ride from under his butt. Go to his home address and repo the trailer or have a wrecking co do it. Track his computer and have the police track his cell phone and haave them retrieve the trailer. It is a stolen trailer.
