This is a very informative site for everyone to express their opinions about the industry.
It appears kevin has made his decission with evaluating the information he has gotten from the site and his freinds. Can't beat up on people after we have given our opinions and people still choose to go forward with their decissions to go with a company like SWIFT.
The IRONIC thing is their are actually people who actually do like/love
working for them.
Kevin or others may actually like it only time will telllllllllllll
To all who are reading these pages and not participating good luck in the decissions you make. We can only give our opinions and they are just that our opinions.
Good luck to you kevin.......................J -

I guess I am not the only knucklehead here, I am heading for Texas June 11. I did read the posts here and other places, but..... I view it as a 6 month plan. I would like to pay them up front and in 6 months owe them nothing. we will how it works out.

That does not sound right...... -
With Swift its a one year contract.
They deduct money every week for school but after a year you start to get it back. If you quit before a year then you owe them the balance left. They basically give you a loan. The contract will end either at one year or when you pay off the loan. So if you want to drive for 6 months, write a check for about 2,000 & quit then your not breaking any contract.
I plan to stay with swift for at least 2 years so I can get all my $3,900 back. Unless of course another company has a substantial sign on bonus.

If I am going to work for Gerry anyway, I will stay at Central Ref.
Our starting pay is better. School is only 3,000, payable at 50.00 a month.
I did not have to do the training anyway, since I had my class A already.
I did Orentation in a large group from a few schools, there were about 28 people. I believe there may be 6 or 7 of them left, 11 months later.
I believe swift numbers run about the same for retention, maybe lower, but they bring in hundreds more drivers every year than central.
As I said, both company's have the same owner, but they are ran much differently. I don't though I don't think Central would take you with the tickets. I am amazed swift will. But you will find that out at the school.
They act like they are doing a full check before you get there, they don't.
It will be done when you are there. If you don't check out you take a bus back home.
