I'm kinda cross eyed from going through a lot of pages but I do think I remember something about that.
Anyway I have no wife or kids, no car.. own a house but have a room mate paying me most of my expenses there so I'm better much free as a butterfly lol.
However I don't have much money at all in the bank as I just use my paychecks to pay off all my credit cards, another 2-3 months and I'll have zero debt.
My luck though I'll get a truck and the first week it'll break down but I'll still have huge truck payments to cover ahhhh

If you go new (not sure if it applies to gently used, LOL), you run the first 4 weeks with out a truck payment. A lot depends on new or used???
-
If you breakdown the 1st week..SNI will wave your payment.
Happened to me..turbo went 1st week(new truck)..I was down for 3 days.
New trucks you have no payment for the 2 weeks.
Gives you a chance to get your feet "wet". -
ew2108 Thanks this.

That's why you shouldn't go in without any savings.
Things go wrong..if you don't plan a head you can get in the hole very quick. -
I will say this and it's not to be a Smart A@@ but if you're asking what is the correct amount to have in savings in order to become IC choice I'll guess you don't have enough in the bank and I say this because only the individual can say if they have enough. Every body's situation is different so no answer fits all, although if you live paycheck to paycheck stay a company driver because being an O/O is hard work and there might be a time you don't have a weeks check to send home.
knuckledragger, acouplyr, stevep1977 and 2 others Thank this. -
I agree the breakdown part was my fear also it still is since I haven't built up a reserve yet -
so are there lanes with high paying freight you can book consistently ?
people keep saying there's tons of cheap freight on choice.
Some of you have posted good numbers.. but is it difficult to get the good freight?
whats the real story? -
