All training has value, and it shows you have positive initiative. However, many employers have their own mandatory in-house or outside course providers, so your QC course may be redundant.
Prairie Boy, your thoughts on this? -
............. sorry - tried to delete - wrong reply to wrong thread ..... I'm just having a 'wrong' kina day !

I've just completed my AZ training with Durham College and have put together my resume package, which includes the following;
DL (temporary paper plus photo card)
driver abstract
AZ course certificate
TDG certificate
WHMIS certificate (military issued)
First Aid with CPR and AED (military issued)
I figured including these docs shows initiative and the fact that you're serious about training even at the outset of a career change. -
Look like the course are the same, both include defibrillator trainning, but I don't want to pay for the training if I have to re-do it once in Alberta.

It's standard for companies out here to put everyone through all their safety tickets. Whether or not you have them is VERY unlikely to habe any effect on whether or not they hire you. The company I work for STEP Energy hires as much or more on attitude than knowledge

In Alberta, Standard First Aid (2 day course) is the industry standard.
Caluja, you'd do well to get H2S Alive as well. Any oilfield work will require this.Caluja Thanks this. -

Hi Guys I just registered on this website
Im reading all the post at the moment but if anyone can help guiding me in my job search I would really appreciate
I got 12+ years experience otr Class 1, newly H2S and First Aid certified
Where should I start looking?
Im in EDM now but Im willing to go work in camp in a 15/6 type schedule -
Hey Garnotte, here in Alberta First Aid is given by St John's I know in Quebec St John's is there too. Im from Quebec myself. H2S Im not sure about it... Different organizations here are providing the H2S ticket and its only a one day course, you might be better off to get it here coz they know we are doing it for the oilfield
