I worked for DTL Transportation for 14 months or so. I got to say it was the best company I have ever worked for. Their equipment is second to none. The whole operation clean and efficient. And I
always looked forward to the smiling faces in the office. Bonnie Drapeau and Sherry really made you feel welcome. Their system is to run you out and back, then you are off for at least a 34 hour restart. You run like hell with these guys. There is no such thing as sitting. If they can't find you a back haul right away they will dead head you back. If you have a break down they send a wrecker to grab yours and deliver you a rental right there on the side of the road. The runs are pretty much the same all the time. Northeast and back, Michigan and back, and Texas and back. The pay is good and the miles are accurate. And one thing that we all love, "Orientation in hours rather than days"
If you can run hard this is the place to be. At DTL Transportation, Sanford, Fl

I know everyone is thinking if it is such a great company why am I not presently working there. I had some personal matters going on in my life. Stressed and not thinking rationally I quit not once but twice. I was so stressed I even got the shingles. It's been about a year and a half since then and there isn't a day goes by that I don't feel regret. Roger K Wilson Orlando, Fl

Good to hear, I was looking at them real hard since they have a satellite office in Columbia. Bottom line for me was I needed more than .36 a mile to pull a reefer and all the headaches that go with it. Found some more equitable options around here, but I used to live in Florida, options down there are very limited. Good to hear they are decent people, that has value too!

Cant hurt to call them again, you have nothing to lose.

Saw they bought out East West Motor Freight out of Selmer, TN a couple of months ago. They seem to need drivers out of this terminal very bad, lots of ads online. Was told run a lot of Sara Lee and basically work Mon-Fri and home weekends and pay was $.37 mile.

My guess is no, only because they never mentioned it nor do they advertise it, but I could be wrong.

I never hauled reefer freight until working for them. However I did after. Their Florida Operation don't haul produce, at least they did not when I was there. They haul Orange Juice, Plants, Fish, and Flowers. All of their freight out of Florida is dedicated runs. The back hauls may change a bit but you are always back in time to at least get a restart. What I like most about this company was even though they did not pay you 50 cents a mile you did not have the typical headache of hauling refer freight. Their runs are pretty much the same every week. That's my biggest problem with trucking. You think you are getting chocolate and your eating ####. But they have seem to have got it organized where you don't eat quite as much. If anyone has any questions on their operation please post a question and I will give you the absolute truth. I don't have any ties there, the bridge is burnt. Any questions post it. I don't get much chance to get on here but I will answer when I do. Best thing to do is call and ask for Bonnie. She will give it to you straight, no bs. I am doing this because I bit the hand that fed me for no reason of theirs. Any questions, If you live in Central Florida this is where you want to be.

More than likely. That is how they have their Sanford Terminal set up. They run you so hard on dedicated freight you have to be home for a restart every week.

When I hired on they just started paying practical miles. I think it was that very day. The mileage pay was more than the existing drivers were getting paid, and the miles were pretty accurate. I think that may have caused some outrage, however I think that may have changed since I've been there. The bottom line is it never mattered hub or practical at either rate. I made a #### good check every week and was home the same 2 days.

Thanks RKW for the info. This is just the type of company that would suit me. I will look them up, but if you know what their requirements are since I'm a noobie it would be appreciate.

That is exactly right. The best way to be. I can't stand sitting for 2 days out on the road getting a restart when I could be getting it at home. Companies advertising out 10 to 14 days is crap. All it means is one of 2 things. You are either sitting for 2 of them or you are running of of recap. Either way you are "Not Making Money" . When I ran with them in my 41/2 to 5 days out I burned 55+ on my 70. You are guaranteed to get your time because you have to get a restart so you can go back out and do it again.
