LOL, this made my morning. Thanks for that.
Back onto subject, I've found in the FMCSA Medical Examiner Handbook that someone with ADHD can drive but I have to meet the following conditions.
Now I know there is no side effects from me taking the medications, and I haven't been on the meds in over a year. So I could have passed the Physical. As for the card itself, it can only be good for one year max. I'm going to send the FMCSA an email asking about requirements. I have to find out since I can't afford a Psychologist. -
Wouldn't HIPAA laws prevent the reporting of any findings to a database being kept somewhere?
mje Thanks this. -
RESPECTFULLY SPEAKING, from what is being implied here, if a trucking company could NOT find a reason NOT to hire an individual as a truck driver, then the trucking company would have the doctor find a "medical" reason to disqualify the individual from being hired on as a truck driver.

Excellent Question!!Tamiami Thanks this.

I don't tell med examiner a **** thing none of there business keep you mouth shut and don't volunteer any info unless you absolutely have too. What happens between your primary care physician and you needs to stay that way. These med examiners were trained by different 3rd party contractors and it varies from state to state. If some of you havn't been paying attention or keeping up with current events in the industry. There are congressional and senate hearings being scheduled about this first rate cluster **** the fmcsa has screwed up with sleep apnea etc. It's a big mess right now. Doctors are getting slapped with investigations into why every patient magically has apnea, etc. Some are being investigated for being connected to sleep labs and getting kick backs for referrals ect. It's going to get messy. Just like everything else government does they put out guidance without going thru proper rule making procedures and got there hand slapped for it and had to recend the guidance. Go find you a doctor and get a med card. Screw schneider and the big fleets.
mje and barnmonkey Thank this. -
What I want to know - is why does a doctor who has studied for years to become a member of the medical profession has to be liscened/certified by the FMCSA to give driver examinations. It is just another scam for them to gather money.
barnmonkey Thanks this. -
Just because a person graduates from medical school does not mean they are an ethical person..
also...what do you call a person who finishes medical school with a "D" average = Doctor.....Tamiami Thanks this. -
the med card is still valid until it expires.

I'm just trying to figure out why any Licensed Medical Examiner in their right mind would, EVER, give a driver a clean bill of health.
I mean, they've already collected the money for the exam from the driver, why not just fail them?
If the driver that the examiner gave a certificate to has an accident, wouldn't the examiner's judgement then be called into question?
Seems to me that issuing a 2 year Health Card has an awful lot of risk for not much gain.....
