Well I left trucking last year to work for an excavation company as an operator. Shortly after, they decided to make me haul equipment since they lost their CDL employee. After sometime I decided I just wanted to go back on the road. So I called up my former employer. He no longer haul cattle, but he wanted me to come back and pull a refer for him. I do not like pulling refers and knew I could get on at other cattle outfits, but no one treated me better than when I worked for him. So I went ahead and came back.
Im happy being back on the road full time. Now I was put into his new Volvo, boo. To top it off, its an automatic. I feel weird driving an automatic. Im always reaching for the gear shift and trying to push the clutch. But I'll take the good with the less than good. I have driven far worse, and by no means am I trying to whine about.
My first trip back out went to Sygma in Columbus, Ohio. I was pulling a Sygma trailer, with a "shuttle" load. All I can say is, wow those people at the Columbus facility are complete A-holes.
Im heading out to Orlando on Monday, so Its gonna be nice getting some miles behind me. All the loads I get are "legal" and I have no need to run like a bullhauler anymore. But I still find myself sitting in a rest area at night just staring out the window for hours not knowing what to do with all this time. I did bring some weights and exercise gear. I dont wanna lose all the muscle I got putting in gym time and working excavation while home.
Well anyways, Im glad to be back on the road and everyone stay safe.
