I think I was at least partially addicted to work (fully recovered now)... but I think the human brain still has some nomad/tribal wanderer hardwired into it. "The road" seems to tend to get into the blood of many.
Anybody else addicted to the road?

AFTERSHOCK that was a #### good post i smiled the whole way through it!!! I can home because im going on vacation and ill i can think is, but i wanna go back to work I dont wanna leave my truck can we take it with us.
IN reality trucking aint work at all. I own my truck and its set up like home away from home i have more groceries in the truck than the house i only really come home to make sure my ole brother is feeding my cat and to pick up my mail.
"Do not ever leave the home-20 to go back on the road after takin' y'all's off time, with unresolved issues left behind"
^^^ that line is so true my first time otr was miserable i spent 6 months running regional and i had relationship issues along with financial problems and being otr just made them waaaay worse. Now that im back in my own problem is do i run at 60 or 65 do i wanna run one more load or sleep today.AfterShock Thanks this. -

From '92-'94 I was gone almost 12 months at a time. Single, young, came home for Christmas. Addicted? yeah.....times change, responsibilities change.....now i'm gone a week at a time usually...once in awhile more than that if I have a SUPER load or are going to a show or visiting friends. Home 2 days and gone again. I look forward to getting home....and hate leaving for about 2 hours. After that; the insulation of the road folds back over me.....and all is well. If this is what you were born to do.......why view it as an addiction?

Ok,I'll admit it...The only reasons I come off the road are repairs, maintenance, and holidays with family.
