I knew that was coming....LOL
Since then I have helped a ton of people get going. Only 3 actually had the money and did it. Lots have asked me for help but only that 3 could make the jump. I had them do the same as me and they had no problem. I have recent and first hand experience with this.

I'm not here to argue with you!
That was my experience and I would advise the OP to call some brokers and ask can he get set up and run for them straight away. -
Ive only had my authority since June pulling flatbed and have had no problems with broker time limits. Only a couple that required a minimum of 3 months and 1 was 1 year but used me in a pinch anyways.
Cetane+ Thanks this. -
Im signing with some now, but only the bigger ones, can you give some ideas as to who to sign with on flatbeds, my authority ect ect doing l.s-mercer-sureway-chr now and all have a book of paperwork.

I'm thinking to start working as dispatch for middle size company, just for like 2 months to become a bit more familiar with the job, leaving my truck aside for a little. I want to go thru any step and be prepared for what's next.
Do you guys think 2 months as dispatcher are going to be enought? -
I would imagine you are already somewhat familiar with your operating costs. I wouldnt bother with the dispatch thing but thats me. Only part left to do now is the monotenous task of filling out all those broker carrier packets. The sooner you jump out there the sooner you will find a lane you like to run that is lucrative. Ch Robinson requires a year of active authority time and I havent found a rate with Landstar worth a #### in the last few weeks. Call on the loads and know your numbers and whats available on the other end ahead of time. Ive been following dry van rates and they are as good as flatbed right now but more plentiful at least where I am. Just dont fall for the brokers poor me, its all I have in it tactic.

Our MC is relatively new... June is when it became active. Our first load was with CH Robinson. We have used TQL and multiple others. Coyote, still haven't run one of theirs, but they said we needed to be in business for 3 months. We have only found (running off of the load boards) about 4 so far that won't take a 'new' authority.

We have been going on our own for a year pulling flatbed. It is not hard finding brokers to work with. We only had five or six that we didn't meet the time requirements for. A couple made exceptions because they needed a truck. When you find a lane that works for you, you will use the same few brokers. Know your numbers before you call on a load and don't be staid to say no if its not what you want.
