Sorry to hear about the medical problem! These days when people have strokes normally the DR puts you on a blood thinner, gives you a small list of foods to avoid (FOLLOW DR ORDERS), and in most cases life goes on. With a little weakness and numbness I bet you will make a full recovery!
IMO don't hire anyone, and plan on going back to work. If the finances get so bad your going to loose assets consider bankruptcy (last resort). If things get so bad you have to sell your truck, buy gold or put the money into something nobody can take from you so you will have start up money in the future! Best to you... -
My wife had this happen 10 years ago and it was a struggle with the loss of her income. We sold everything I could sell and filed for SS disabillity right away. I say cut your losses now, sell the truck and anything else you can. Good luck to you and God Bless.

DON'T PANIC. The doctors will scare you to death if you let them. I'm with Big Don here, it's way too soon to push the panic button.
The main thing needed is more information. A lot depends on what you were doing and if you can make adjustments to suit your new situation. There are plenty of guys still driving who have had similar problems.
If you are a smoker, stop now. NEVER light another one. It causes the blood vessels to constrict and you definitely don't need that. Think about what caused your stroke to begin with. Lack of blood flow to your brain is treatable with medication and your chances for full recovery are very good. I know people who have done so and continue with a normal life for many years. The key is awareness of the condition and lifestyle adjustments.
Someone said that putting a driver in the truck would likely cause you to have another stroke. Maybe, and maybe not. It would depend on the driver and the circumstances. If your truck is leased to a company they might be able to put someone in it that could keep it working while you are out of commission.
It sounds as if your truck is in good condition so you might have an edge in that area if you try to sell it. Usually you will have more invested than the market value for that particular truck.
Just don't jump the gun here and do tell us more about the situation. It might be feasible to do shorter trips and make more money in the long run. But, maybe you were doing that already. Let us know and don't just give up.Panhandle flash Thanks this.
