There is some kind of a problem with certain threads and viewing the last page. Go into Settings/Subscriptions, then under My Account go into General Settings. Scroll down to Number of Posts to Show Per Page: and kick your setting up a bit. Mine is set on 40, and I don't have any trouble now. When I was set on Use Forum Default, I had a lot of problems. So I kicked it up to 30, (per a staff member,) and it worked fine for a bit. Then it did it again. Since I've kicked it up to 40 posts per page, I've had no problem with that. -

Jeebus what a day yesterday. I actually got exactly the same routes all week as last week (i'm on the extra board, so this is pretty rare). It's way easier when you actually know the route. Anyway, the saturday route is LONG. Designed it's 13 hours. (yeah, the slightest hiccup and you are running out of hours). I get to work, do the paperwork, hook up the truck (daycabs are weird, they have a rear window
) and pull forward a bit to put the liftgate up and pull the tandems forward. Liftgate wont' go up. nothing. Ask another driver he has no clue either. Of course, no one in warehouse, no supervisors or managers to be found or answer their phone. (WTF?) and figured at first I'd reload teh trailer. Then I looked closer at the trailer and it looks like it was loaded with a blown in insulation (yeah, we'll come back to this).
Fine, I"m making my own decision. Drive off the 10 miles on back roads to the repair shop with the liftgate down. (it's 3:30am, first scheduled stop is at 4am, it's 30 minutes away, I"m going to be late, but no one answers their phone). Get to Ryder shop and the guy starts looking at it and it starts working. Even he admits he's not sure what he did, but it works. Get to first stop at 4:45, first freezer pallet comes out the side door (which always sucks, but it happens). get them unloaded, help them put it away and i"m out by 5:40, only 10 minutes late. Get to 2nd stop 5 minutes late. First pallet comes out, goes in the door (hand truck), 2nd pallet comes out, the freezer pallet (up front) is a split pallet and of course the trailer lights don't work,so it needs to come out so i can see which tag is which. Get 3 more pallets out for later stops, pull that pallet down and it's split side by side not top bottom
stupid (*&*&^$%##
and not split with some way to tell, just stacked. Find everything for stop 2, restack the pallet, put the pallet back in. Finish delivery and go to put the other pallets back in. Worthless lift gate won't do it. have to down stack all those pallets into half pallets and it just barely lifts it (POS). Fine way late now, off to 3, 3 is uneventful, get to 4 and get all their product off (big stop) and going to put the chemicals and empties back on and the liftgate goes wrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr (up) and click and stops dead. fiddle with wires, etc, nothing.
call office "well i'm toast now, start working on a rescue, I'm calling road assist" What? can't you finish? Sure, but not in 14, it's at least an hour to get fixed, if we're lucky.
While i"m calling road assist I see the outside rear tire on the trailer is bubbled and toast. well I"m OOS anyway, you might as well fix both. Now, this is my bad, I missed it in the pre-trip, got all worked up about the liftgate and trying to solve that problem. But this didn't happen overnight. Where is the last driver (we slip seat and trailers are whatever you get) who didn't put it OOS and get it fixed?????????? Hell including this one i"ve red tagged two trailers in the last week, where is everyone else?
So, finally get the concept thru to the office that they need to start working on a rescue plan (i'm 100 miles away from terminal, all my deliveries are in this city). truck gets fixed in 1.5 hours. well fixed enough to get me on the road. a guy in a straight truck meets me at the last stop and pulls off a skipped stop (stop 5) and goes off to deliver that one.
I make it back in 13 hours 57 minutes, with an ENTIRE PALLET of mis picked product. (including 8 large cases of seafood, WTF? gotta be a $1000 worth of product).
18 hour day from home to home.
Yeah, drive local, be home every night. (sarcasm)
thank god I"m off today.
my supervisor has decided I need an exorcism, that I"m cursed. (I've broken down like 3 times already). She could be right. Sad part is I actually like this job, but days like this kick my butt.Shaggy, road_runner and ACH1130 Thank this. -
Everyone has/had days like that. It sucks, sure. But it is just a part of the job. Tomorrow is a brand new day, with brand new things to screw you up!
ACH1130 Thanks this. -
