No you really don't. There are specific places in the forum where Union arguments are permitted. This isn't one of them.

What I said wasn't intended to be a union argument, but ok. Have it your way. I get it. The word "union" is forbidden here.

It's not how much you make that matters, it's how much you KEEP. You can't grow a savings account unless you spend less than you earn. You can't invest in anything unless you have a savings account.
Being passionate about trucking for me comes easy. I LOVE to drive. This country is a never ending source of fascination. You have to love the challenge and wake up excited to see what's in store. I guess that's why the idea of doing local deliveries for ME would be something of a let down. OTR allows me to see some fine country.DMAX66 Thanks this. -
Excellent post and a great observation!
This industry has change a lot in the last 10+ years by mandated policy. However, it is also changing due to the fact that the attitude of the professional driver is changing as evidenced by the fact that we are having this conversation as well as other things I have seen. As we continue to develop and improve ourselves, we improve the industry and the overall image. Complaining provides little in positive momentum.
BTW, happiness and satisfaction do not equate. The former is a transient feeling while the latter is a decision and an attitude.
Stay positive my friend. -
Makes good sense to me. -
Smile because tomorrow will be worse.
Seriously, there's a lot to be thankful for everyday. When my hubby and I first teamed up he was a complainer. After a few months I told him I didn't beat cancer to complain the rest of my life about nitnoid stuff. Trucking and its ups and downs is a part of who I am. I'm a trucker who left a fortune 50 white collar job to be here. It's not all fluffy bunnies and rainbows. It's a way of life. It's my way of life and my living. Does that mean things couldn't be better? No. It means (pardon the pun) I'm in it for the long haul, and I won't waste my time complaining. I'll work to make it better or recite the Serenity prayer until the urge to throttle someone passes. -

I used to work in the automotive repair industry and I always experienced a lot of negativity from co workers there as well. Every one always #####ed and complained about working two much and not getting paid enough. Some people will never be happy, or it just makes them feel better to complain. I always just kept a positive attitude because I had a good paying job, and most of my other friends from high school that went to a university owed outrageous amounts of money in student loans and had no job.
