Mucho better. They're 63% with a straight truck, right? Seems like that should be a little higher, seeing as the owner can't lease a box from LS. LOL

I dunno. Tractors get 65% pulling van trailers and the 7% extra by having your own trailer is a no brainer. 72% is competitive.

R/C, saw a nice 53' great dane in the truck paper you might like. pretty basic, but had a reinforced floor for hauling paper, and logistics posts on 16" centers. less than 30 grand.

Looked at the 32' and 36' footers, many were very old, and from what I read, most companies only want trailers that are 10 yrs. old or less.

I agree, 72% is decent. I was talking about straight trucks needing a little more, because the box doesn't belong to LS.

You may get the 72% because it is an "E" unit.

Harder to find w a liftgate, but if you're a little inventive, you can get what you want for a decent price. Find the trailer, buy a liftgate from a trailer they're parting out and scrapping - ala Penske or Ryder - and have them install it for a couple hundred.

Here's an ad where they can cut a 53'er down to what length you want. If they use late year models, it would be worth the money, IMO.

Occasionally, I'll find a gem of a 36'er, like one that was barely used - probably not what the customer wanted - for 23k.

If you found a good 36' trlr w/liftgate, would you want tandems or a single axle? I thought of a 3axle tractor and pup combo to stay below 55,000lbs and avoid HUT. Your thoughts?

I want to be able to haul 30-35k, so I'm not worried about paying HUT.

Depending on the size of the tractor, I think you could get under 25,000, but that would probably be with a small sleeper s/a tractor and a pretty basic 28' pup. my guess.
