Be careful of Performance food group. I worked for them for 3 months, back breaking work for $500/ week take home. No thanks. Some of the guys get paid better than others but I didn't care to work there any longer than I did.

I hauled several of their reefer loads when I was OTR refrigerated. Real lightweight frozen cakes; didn't know they ship heavy stuff.

Oh yeah definitely, it's a food service company. Delivered to Carraba's, Outback, Ruby Tuesday, Joes crab shack, Cracker Barrel, and a few other places. Even with hand trucks I'd be taking 250-300lbs of steaks on one cart down the ramp from the trailer into the stores. It'd take you for a ride that's for sure. You had to let it roll and run with it. It's how I messed up my knee from running up and down those ramps.

We were always in a hurry, since you're paid salary there, one guy said "As soon as we leave the gate to begin our day, we've already made as much money as we could". So that's why most guys were always in a rush.

I'll say I lost quite a bit of weight my first two weeks there, that's for sure. I just didn't like team driving, driving tired as all get out, and the pay was never satisfying. Even If i chose to work 5 days instead of 4, it wasn't enough. You're guaranteed $700/week there, because of how the pay is set up.

All i gotta say is Hauling fuel now, I've been here almost a year and I average more money than the guys that have been with PFG for over 10 years.....

I also messed up my shoulder from the heavy lifting and holding up the heavy carts with my right arm. My right shoulder clicks and pops every now and then. Something in my rotatory cuff i guess. Went to the doctor and was put on light duty for a few weeks, and instead of being paid normally plus Workmans comp, they offered to pay me just my base pay if I don't file for workmans comp. After a week of working light duty making $500 gross I had to lie and say I was better and get back on the truck or else I was going to be so far behind on my bills.

Comcar might have some local with their CCC or CTL divisions. Pay wouldn't be to much though, but at least get some tanker training.

Get your experience first then you might be able to pick and choose. I work local, make more than I did otr, and what I unload is cake compared to what you deal with anywhere otr. And if I'm not mistaken the company I work for doesn't hire grads. Experience preferably otr is key, it's hilarious grads want local high paying jobs, I was naive then too. Others within the state with more experience than you applying for the same job will get the opportunity over you. Not saying it's impossible just keep that in mind. Best home time otr company would be either roehl or Schneider imo on one of their 14/7 fleets, if you don't qualify and have to do over the road normally, then roehl, get 6-12 months in experience then options will open up.

Are you still hauling fuel for eagle? I live in Tampa and I'm deciding between Eagle transport and Averrit Express. Don't know much about Eagle other than home every night off 2 days and guaranteed $800 a week. Averrit is $19 an hour usually 5am to 3pm Mon-Fri off on weekends, which I like the schedule. Any info you can give me on eagle?

I can only speak for Jacksonville's terminal, unless Tampa pays different then the guaranteed pay is only $600 for a 6 day week.

I know you'll make more than that in Tampa though. I work 6/2, it's work 6 days and off 2 with a 4 day weekend every 5 weeks. I love working here and I'm averaging about $800-900/week.
