    Hey,

I'm just getting started as a freight broker and registered at two large load boards. I've seen that more than 90% of loads on those boards don't have payment information available and also no pickup / drop time frames. Sometimes weight or other important information is missing as well.

Why are brokers doing that and was benefit do they get from it?

    Thanks

They wish to get more info. on you, when driver calls in they put you on e/mail or call center list that they sell to others to make extra $ off your info?

Probably because it's just easier to post it up quickly that way. When I post my truck I put several details in the comments line to clue in prospective brokers who click on my truck. Most posted trucks I see put nothing in the comments. And none of them ever post the rate they're looking for either (I don't either). Really what details are posted don't matter to me one whit. However I do post details on my truck in order to sell it though and know for a fact it stands out and has the desired results due to feedback from brokers. If they post pic/delivery time or not I could care less and whatever rate they post or not doesn't matter to me either. A lot of drivers seem to get bent out of shape if details aren't posted. Don't get that. If you don't know something ask. Even if it's posted ask again...

It would make finding a load for me, and them getting a load secured if they would post vital information. Some do post 1pk, 1drp or however many there are and I like that. Some post what they are offering and I like that too, wish they would all do that. Another thing they do I cant friggin stand is they post the wrong city for pickup and/or delivery. I always get the same lame excuse, that is the way drivers want it...who the heck is telling them to post the city that is the biggest near the actual????

Most list flatbed loads as 48' and 48,000 when in fact their 10' long and weighs 15,000. They don't realize there are many people that won't even call because the load is too heavy

They post the nearest big city to generate interest in the load.

Your right about putting everything at 48 48000 and not getting more results, i took a load the other day off the its board that the broker said he never even thought about trying the load under the hs side, had no hits on big flatbeds and was a decent rate, worked out ok, cash waiting on delivery as i required on this one.

I picked up a load in Minnesota which sort of sucks for flatbed freight. It was for Landstar and listed as 45' and 40,000 and paid $3.00 a mile which is really high for that area and going to NC which is a great area. Got there and it was a 10' utility trailer that weighed less then 3,000 pounds! I was like, REALLY!!

Welcome to the real world of freight brokerage. I think they are scared of losing the customer by posting too much (any) info. They were probably taught this method by their company and that's all they know. Perhaps 1 time in history they asked a carrier how much would it take to do the load, and the carrier said a dollar a mile and they were getting paid $4 a mile. That won't happen if you post what you are expecting to pay. On the carrier side with posting their trucks, I've always thought it strange that they don't even post an area where they want and need to get back to. Anywhere? Did you sign up with Internet Truckstop and DAT 360? OH and Good Fortune to you in your new position!

There are many agents/brokers that post their best rates like PLS, Trinity and Seufert when in competition for the same load. Many times Trinity will have a load posted for $3,400 and Landstar has the same load for $2,500. Needless to say those brokers get their loads snapped up in a heart beat and do a good business making a little on each load but a lot on volume
