I just spent a boat load of money on buying the truck and I even paid for brand new diffs put in because I wanted lockers added so I won't be buying new rears any time soon.

The only reason I didn't swap the ratio when I bought new pumpkins was because I was under the assumption that was buying 600 to the ground, in which case those gears would be perfect.

After finding out the dealer lied, I told em new gear ratio or the power I was promised. Anything else and this truck was sold under false pretenses.......... he decided to up the ponies as its the cheaper of the 2 options.

We've been running in 17th and will continue to do so with that gearing.

Dosen't help it's an 08' cat with the DPF. You loose a lot of power with how that engine has been modified from the pre-emmision CAT's ,3.36 are the wrong gears for that kinda weight all the time.

good luck to you i would have picked different rears esp if i replaced them anyway i would have stuffed a different gear set in there for that kind of weight, 3.55's probably would have been do-able at 120k with big hp, i personally think your going to be too low even at 600 to the ground. i run over 80k but quite a bit lighter than you and I like gears in the 3.70's still can run 70 without revving to the moon but got the pulling power.

i used to drive a truck with 3.55's and big hp (not sure what it was putting to the ground but she ran) 06 565 isx don't know if it had been tuned up in its life but it had power more than any 600hp cat iv ever drove. with a 18 speed it pulled well in the 105-110k range. and it could still hit 95+mph passing. hell 3.70's can hit 80+mph you just don't want to run it there all day long. i guess i just don't see your reasoning for trying to run 3.36's as your gear of choice for that weight.

i hope it all works out for you and your happy in the end.

I can't make heads or tails of this, 2200 ft lbs to the ground? That's ####### crazy. First of all those dyno printouts suck, second they weren't run high enough to get peak hp.

I said on the original post. Don't pay attention to torque as it wasn't set up to measure torque and the rpm shown is roller rpm.

Just change tires to 22.5 lp , will give you3.7 gear ratio.

550HP rated c15 acert your basic rule of thumb is 85% of 550 which equates to 500hp at rear wheels and 50hp loss thru drivetrain and running alternator and fan etc etc
that dyno slip is just power checks ,,,,, pissing contest at the pub over few drinks lol lol
there whould beenfuel pressure, boost, inlet restriction, inlet temps, exhaust temps back pressure and if was at cat dealer get the fuel flow equipment on the engine and use 5 lug points to set up fuel burnt boost hp curves.
first lug at peak torque rpm and sit there 10 seconds let engine kick out aoss,, take readings then 1400 1600 1800 1900 rpm , thatt way check each system of what comes into engine and what comes out, only way properly diagnose engine,,,, Get engine serial number, 0T perfomance specs so you can compare actual results to cat ones
fuel curve is best to have coz it will relate to actual horsepower and boost,,, boost horsepower will follow your fuel curve ,,,,,, hope helps
