Oct 2. Southbound on a 4 lane section of US RT 12 near Trenton, NY. There is a long hill. I was 78,000 and I flipped on the jakes at the top but I must have hit a bump and they went off (the limit switch wasn't adjusted properly). Anyway, when I saw the Trooper I slowed her down but it was too late. He said I was doing 72 which isn't bad except that it's a 55 there and not a 65.
So I called a fella I know in that area. He put me onto a lawyer. Spoke to lawyer in the phone. Faxed him my 5 year driving record.....1 speeding ticket in 5 years. $0 loss run. Lawyer went to court for me Friday and got the charge was reduced to a non moving violation (parking ticket).
Fight every ticket to protect your driving record.
72 mph in a 55 mph zone

Luck was with you, I can't plead holier then thou myself, but you should be able to come down a hill without a Jake maybe it was the bump.
-
Of course I can. But I wasn't watching the speedo. Just a few seconds of inattention is all it takes. But that is not the point. I didn't post this to say that I was innocent. Just the opposite in fact. The point is, fight every ticket no matter how guilty you may think you are. It's not about guilt...it's about being able to show the court you have a good history. The judge ain't out to get good people. Cops maybe. Judge no.88 Alpha Thanks this.

actually the judge got nothing to do with reducing the charges, the DA (district attorney) is the one calling the shots.the good thing about hiring a local lawyer is that these guys know each other and the chances of getting a break are better.
Grumppy Thanks this. -
They got some money out of you and that was probably the point anyway. I agree though, you should fight a ticket, especially 15+ over! that woulda been a bad one.
-
Yeah I just printed off the plea form. It was written by the assistant DA. True about them all knowing one another.
-
How much was the lawyer fee??? I think money just went to the right pocket and you get out of points in record.
-
This guy managed to get a reckless driving ticket reduced to a parking ticket? I wish that lawyer practiced law in my state. I'm sure this failure to yield I have would of been reduced to a simple jaywalking ticket.

Darn Canadians getting away with murder! What are you doing driving anyways? Your the boss!

$375 for the lawyer + whatever the court sets the parking ticket fine at.
