Let's face it, mega companies make money by valume at the experience of drivers. They are a few exceptions were some make through the cracks and are doing good, but for the most part its true. Just as any giant corporation in the country they require you work.
What's most important is what works for you regardless of the companies reputation and even more so is fitting for you. Most of us rather be out here than working in a store or wharwhouse.
Here are some things I must mention about the trucking word. It's is a blue coller industry and requires you to work just like any other blue collar job in America.
Second you must be fit for driving and have the skill and ability to drive a truck. You must stay legal on and off the job and keep up with DOT standard's. It may require to work odd and long hours or may require to stay out for long periods of time. You must be able to get past all the paperwork it requires and to keep your books legal.
A lot people just thinks it just driving a truck. Then when they get out here the find out oh its a job and it actually requires you to work.
The other thing is the ability to face reality.
Mostly everyone wants to start out at the top, and just like anywere else in the working world its probably not going to happen here in the trucking industry.
The key is being realistic and facing reality. Its part of growing up. Wich some never do.
A lot of people just want to here the good side of thing's other than whats really going on. That way they can point the finger at someone else, and say well he told something different, anything and any body but themselves.
And yep as far as a lot of bad going on with companies especially these megas that's true to. There is a lot messed up stuff going on out here.
Please! Don't tell me the truth!!!!

Anyway, you've got your orientation truth, your dispatch truth, your mechanics truth, safety department's truth, HR truth, customer truth, etc., and at least one of them is lying, or contradicting the other, at any given time.

Are you a experienced driver? If so, change your profile.

People go to those companies knowing the truth but they will be different of course. They're thinking it won't happen to them and they will be the one that breaks the mold because they can do anything they set their mind to and are a hard worker etc. etc. It's BS of course but it's like telling a kid don't put your hand on the stove it's hot and he just has to do it anyway to keep you honest or something lol.

Does a new driver even know the difference between a good and bad company without the experience of both? There is bs to deal with at ANY company.
ShortBusKid and Big Don Thank this. -
I read allot on here but post very little and as an outsider looking in, it's very difficult to discern which company to go with. So where's the list of 'good' companies to hire on with?

If there were good companies they wouldn't have such a high turnover rate. You're not going to find any company that meets your ecspectations. But there are some that has more positive reviews then others. Those are the ones you wanna look into.Sure you'll find drivers that has nothing good to say but you'll find that with every company. You just need to stay away from the ones with a real bed reputation like CRENGLAND,and CRST.Many on here wants to know about a certain company like England and drivers give their honest opinion and advice which is all bad about the company but does that one asking questions listen not much they still go there.A couple months later they're back on here saying they should have listened.I have a hard time have any compassion for those ppl because they were warned well over a hundred times.Alot of the nevative reviews are the same only worded different.Drivers try desparately to talk ppl out of certain companies. It amazes me how many wanna know what crengland is like. They have got to be the worst company in the industry but yet they get the ppl coming in like flies on #### paper.I just don't get it.

For some reason Jack Nicholson popped into my head.
In defense of people who may ask for info about a company and request only positive info I don't necessarily see that as an ostrich approach.
This site is full of the bad, people are quick to complain and slow to praise. There's hardly a company out there that the negative hasn't already been posted. If someone goes to the trouble of actually searching this site and has already read the bad about a company is doesn't seem unreasonable to try and get the other side of the story.
Though some companies are better than others they all work for some people. Every situation is different.
