He needs to keep busy.
It will take a while for him to adjust.
I suggest he do some volunteer work, homeless shelter, church, something.
he did nothing wrong. Life sucks sometimes.
He needs to accept that, move on, and not let this make him a victim.
I was involved in a fatality accident that was not my fault 20 years ago.
The victim died as I was trying to control his bleeding.
I still get twinges when I come across an intersection with a similar layout and geographic features.

If it's Workman's Comp, you will be told who to see and when, and how much. I'm glad he is getting help.
Any judgement about degree or severity and how well recovery is going will have to come from a Psychologist or a Psychiatrist, and not from a counselor.
Adding this: As much as I dislike attorneys, you should seek a consult on this as well. It may not be advisable to continue to air things on a forum such as this.
Hoping for the best for your husband and family.mamamullins and Big Don Thank this. -
Big Don thank you. No you haven't scared me, because I have realized that it was important to keep an eye on him. When he started down spiraling is when I stepped in took him to the ER where the county could evaluate him. They were the ones to put him on medication, and he has been asked by them and my counselors if he has any thought of suicide. He doesn't want to take his own life, and he is starting to realize that it wasn't his fault. He is just having flash backs and nightmares, and the sleeping medicine seems to be helping him. He knows about our financial situation, and he is trying to think about what other field he can go into. I appreciate your advice alot, and I respect you for being so honest with me. God Bless you and everyone that is trying to help me.
Big Don Thanks this. -
He is likely asking himself over and over was there something else i could have done? When he talks like that remind him, if you keep looking for a fault you will find one that isint there. Had a buddy keep reminding me of that fact, and it did help. Feel free to pm me. Yes i do have first hand personal exsperiance with this.
mamamullins and 25(2)+2 Thank this. -
25(2) + 2, We have an attorney, and he is not allowed to talk about it with anyone from the media, social networks, or any individuals from the scene of the accident. As long as I don't mention names, post media links where the accident occurred, or any specific details then it is okay to ask advice. The counseling that is set up is with a Psychologist through the workman's comp. I just wanted some advice from others who may have been through this or know of someone that went through this. I appreciate everyone's help, because this site has always been a support for me and others.

He needs to talk to other people who have had similer things happen. Im not trying to say nobody understands, just some much more than others. Everyone has difrent coping metheds. For example i cant drive on the aniversery of the day. Had panic attack just sitting in a truck, for a year after a funny bump would cause me to stop put the hazards on and walk the truck. Time. He may never be ready, some never are again, time. Talking about it. Time. Finding something that calms you down. Time...

I'm sorry that it happened to him and how you and your family have been affected.Suicidal people are in so much pain that I beleive they don't realize that their death will impact the lives of others for life. You both will be in my prays.
mamamullins Thanks this. -
Same thing happened to a coworker of mine in Tennessee. He was really upset until the police found a suicide note in a motel room nearby. They guy was trying to set it up so his family could sue the trucking company, but that didn't work. Once the driver found out it was a suicide, he moved right on with his life. Not everyone can do this as easily though.

If it wasn't your husband, it would have been someone else. He was on the wrong side of the lottery, so to speak. When a woman fell asleep and hit my trailer at 55 mph, I did my part to preserve her safety and life, and walked away with a clear head. This is the only job , besides police officer and train conductor, where you might be directly involved in the death of somebody , whether or not it is your fault. Good luck.

I know a coworker who had something similar happen and it took him a few months to get over it.But he did get over it.
mamamullins Thanks this.
