Parking Truck when bringing home

Discussion in 'Questions From New Drivers' started by RichardCranium86, Nov 8, 2014.

  1. I know this is a dumb question but I am going to ask anyway. A few of the companies I have pre approval from I would bring home the truck. My current living arrangement I can not bring the truck to my house as we live in a neighborhood without enough room to park truck, add on to that the HOA rules against it. So where do you park a truck when you do not actually have a place at home to bring it to?

Truck stop if the company allows it. Put where you live in your profile....general area...this helps other give you better info.

Park it in the driveway anyway and tell the HOA to pound sand because you just improved your property value by $60,000.

Your company will give you some guidlines as to what they consider appropriate parking places and you can start searching from there. Be creative. A buddy of mine found a farmer that lets him park on his farm in exchange for doing little odd jobs now and then.

You could try Craigs List or local classifieds. Look under storage/rental. Also do a google map search for "trucking" in your area. Lastly, if you are only home for a reset maybe a WALMART, but I would get permission. Some employers require a "secure" parking location.

Why not limit the companies you apply to, to ones with a local terminal, or one close enough to drive to every few weeks?
It makes life a lot easier.

    Numb and allniter Thank this.
  7. I am very near Hartsfield Jackson Airport in Atlanta.

  8. I am open to anything. That's more the goal, at the end of the day I would love a day cab. This was specifically in reference to McElroy they are the only company that I have some interest in that doesn't have a hub here that I would have this issue.

The few times I had to do that, I parked at a truckstop. Be careful that shady characters lurking around don't notice you're leaving the area though. What I did was have my wife park the car in the restaurant parking area and wait for me. Then I closed all the curtains in the truck and entered the rear of the truckstop as if going to take a shower, but walked through the truckstop and out the front door. Anyone in the truck parking area would think I may return very soon.

Navajo Express has a daily route running from Atanta to Jackson, TN and home every day. Problem is it only pays $150.00 a day which may not leave much at the end of the week after taxes, etc.

FFE may still have that LTL route out of Atlanta hauling refrigerated goods. Worth a phone call to find out.

Lots of good day cab jobs with terminals around Atlanta, especially after you have 12 months experience. Make some phone calls and prepare for those.

  11. Yeah there are a lot of options out of Atlanta, just most of them need a year of experience so I am working through all the options available just got to have as many options as I can so the Monday after the 20th I can get to work. Yeah that Navaho would equate annually about what I was making in my last field. There is a supply chain position with Averitt that's hiring new grads thats listed as home every night as well I just have to call HR once I have my CDL HR came by the school a few weeks ago.
