Hate to be a jerk but shouldn't you have asked this BEFORE you purchased it ?ALso you're on the wrong Sub-forum for this kind of discussion
You want electronic connection sub forum -
Yes you can. The difference between yours and the more expensive ones is that they will automatically update when near wifi. Yours came with a USB cord and you can update it at home from your computer. Good luck.Classified Thanks this.

Should be able to download the Dock software off their website. Then attach the USB cable to your computer and the software will update what is needed.
Classified Thanks this. -
Thanks for everyone's help, and YES I did ask the seller several times, but he would not answer any question, other than when I was going to pay! I got it cheap so I just paid and thought i'd do the research myself. I really do appreciate everyone's fast reply's.

Probably not, the unit is registered to original owner and if there was not an ownership transfer done, don't know if they will even do that, then you won't be able to use the docking software. Besides, this is an outdated unit with prob old map data on it and will not be as usefull as the new ones and may not have the processor power to run the new map data. Doesn't this site have an inhouse official factory support person for RM?
Mark Kling.
I think the link for that support thread is
http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr.../255563-support-thread-tnd-500-tnd-700-a.html
so post that question in that thread. -
That is false information. They haven't released the new maps for the 720 yet for reasons only known to rand. I too am under a NDA same as mark and can't say. But to say they just plain aren't releasing them is false.
But to the O.P. I'm gonna guess a unit as old as the 500 is not supported anymore as its past the support life term. 4-5 years is normally the cutoff on any electronics. -
If they haven't released any new maps for the 720 yet, how are you sure they will ever do so?
I have a 520LM and I've yet to see map updates, even though it is SUPPOSED to have lifetime map updates.
I get the same map errors that I did with the 510, and it's been well over a year.
