Consider a 3 axle trailer with a big spread between each axle. Each axle has it's own dump valve operated from the cab.
1. Before you roll over the SINGLE AXLE SCALE with the 1st trailer axle, you dump all air from that axle. Weight is supported by truck + trailer axle 2. Trailer axle 1 weighs light.
2. Once trailer axle 1 clears the plate, then you reinflate it and dump all air from trailer axle 2. Weight is supported by trailer axles 1 and 3. Trailer axle 2 weighs light.
3. Once trailer axle 2 clears plate, reinflate it and dump all air from trailer axle three. Weight is supported by trailer axles 1 and 2 and trailer axle 3 weighs light.
...Or something like that.
Three lift axles would really mess them up.Hammer166 and dannythetrucker Thank this. -

Danny, airing the axle up to lower weight only works with single compartment tanks, as it rolls the load towards the low point.
