In 1971 I witnessed a new Freightliner logging truck that almost went off the mountain on a pull off out in California. They had it tied off to some trees until they got it pulled back up on the trail.

Had an ex GF almost take us sailing off one of those pull-outs. Turns out she never really understood lane positioning and faked it by keeping the fog line on a certain point on her hood. When the fog line veered to the parking area, so did she!

I don't think anybody is disputing that his GPS told him to turn there. The whole point is that you have to get your head out of your arse and ask yourself, "IS THIS LOGICAL?" "IS IT SAFE?" "DOES IT MAKE SENSE?"

Ok, the gps tells you to turn there, I guess I get that. what I don't get, is how can anybody not tell there in a park? I'm sorry but even driving into the parking lot for that park was boneheaded, let alone up the path, across a bridge that narrow, and starting across the next one. No excuse can cover this, none. Now I will give some credit for getting as far as he did, that had to had to be tricky. But like I said, to have even left the road to begin with? come on, really?

Actually the OP has a point about blaming the planner....my friend was given a route down a dead end street and he kept driving right into the lake on the other side. Totally the planner's fault. :biggrin_2554:

The car route was too long.
