The only chemical plants I've been to that required a TWIC have been in ports. All the other places I load just require an ID.Chinatown Thanks this.

Last time I went to Canada I accidentally handed the agent my TWIC and he just handed it back and said he didn't know what that was. He didn't think it was funny but then again they don't think anything is funny.semi retired semi driver Thanks this.

Isn't there a JBS plant near Avandale, try them for your over the road education. you need to get road time in. I haven't heard of too many companies hiring a newbe without some driver training.

Why in the world would you want to move to the Northeast? It's expensive, the roads are tight for trucks, and the winters are awful.
Numb Thanks this. -
What is with Canada and that criminal record requirement? So if a Canadian citizen commits a crime in the US do they deny him entry into his country? Or what if a Canadian citizen commits a crime in Canada do they get deported? To any newbies lurking, you have to have a perfect record to enter Canada and I mean perfect. If you stole a pack of gum when you were 12 they will know and turn you back. Meanwhile they welcome in permanent immigrants from every third world country on the globe. Talk about a nation with their priorities in order.

Just and FYI (and as an Air Force commercial gate entry controller), a TWIC card most likely will not allow access to AIR FORCE installations. I cannot speak for the other branches. Charleston AFB and the Naval Weapons Station would not allow a TWIC in itself. We did allow drivers in on drivers' licenses, but I also ran the licenses through NCIC and we had an Xray and Gamma detector at the back gate.

The Air Force actually has an official gate opener called "commercial gate entry controller"? Do you guys also have an official coffee maker, I mean hot beverage dispenser monitor?
