Hey Glacier, thanks for those links. I see a couple of new ones I didn't know about. Yeah when the ad says "must have" I'm compelled to respect that and NOT apply. But I have seen a couple of ads that have said "experience preferred" which raises hopes of getting a foot in the door.

Sanjel called me back today. Apparently they're doing some sort of hiring fair in Comox (not sure when though). Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone on here lives on Vancouver Island and is looking for work. I met a guy today who said he was offered a job hauling sand with Sanjel. 3 weeks on, 2 weeks off, minimum weekly salary, flights and accomodation paid for.

Holy Kijiji Batman !!!!! Kijiji has lit up in Atlantic Canada with patch work. MB, SK, AB, and BC. From Viper Steam to Pauls Hauling !
Just sayin' - I'm still partial to off-road round wood hauling - but there's no thread for that -
Hey Lucien - is round wood off road anything like heavy pipe in your books ? LOL ! Got anything opening up from Jan to Apr '15 ? -
Sent out a few resumes to Fort Mac but most places aren't hiring till after Christmas. Anyone have any suggestions for other companies to try up there? Tried most of the kearl site contractors so far. I'm looking for accommodation provided and flights from Calgary or Edmonton would be nice but not necessary. If anyone is currently up there with a company who's looking and I could send you a resume it'd be greatly appreciated.

There's a quite a few fluid hauling opportunities around the Lloydminster area. That's where I'm working right now and I love it. Best job I've had. Seems like all the owner ops out here are desperate for drivers. Pretty sure 90 percent of them don't know how to put an appealing ad on kijiji but they're probably worth a reply. Not sure what the other guys schedules or pay scale is like but most have accommodations set up but not flights.

Arghh. I'm in a contract until Dec 20. AND I'm a man o' my word. Maybe next year ol' buddy. Tks for the response PB.
BTW Lucien, cold enough for ya ? Everyone's complaining, but, Holy Crap, if that put's a crust on the ground, and prices come back, this'll be some kinda season, eh ? -
Just took a camp up to Key Lakes Saskatchewan and the guys could travel as high as 105 because of the good snow pack. Very narrow road. Anything over 9 feet wide needs a pilot car. The camp was 12 wide, hire local pilot and they did a fantastic job.
rainyday lover and Speedloader Thank this. -
Gained an insight today to share with those looking for their first oil/gas job. First, read up on the oilfield exemption if you haven't already.
So in order to qualify for the exemption, you have to have a decent carrier profile. Maintaining the exemption is critical for competitiveness, and it gets renewed annually, so there's a larger incentive for safety with companies that want the exemption, which means if you're someone who wants to do things by the book, is worried about having to fake your books, or just worried about fatigue management, then companies with the exemptions might be the way to go, since they would seem to be less like to try to get away with shady stuff.
The flipside of this is that since carrier profiles are more important than usual, having a clean abstract is more important than usual. So having a clean one makes you a good candidate, and is worth considering if you don't feel like your resume stands out on its own.
