The Lucas and others help the fuel atomize, this increases the fuel mileage, it also acts as a lubricant in the pumps and injectors. I see an easy 3mpg mixing as suggested in my 6.0 PowerStroke.

I have to admit, I am partial to the fuel additive I use from Schaeffer. I use the summer version and the winter version. Every fill up. Not really taking it in the shorts for doing so. Comes out to around 3 cents per gallon of diesel. I really like their oil and greases, so when I order a new drum of oil, I usually have them add a 5 gallon can or two of fuel additive. They ship it to me free. Just got in a 55 gallon drum of oil and two 5 gallon cans of winter additive. Cost was $148 each. Winter version doses at 1 oz per 7.5 gallons of diesel. That comes out to about 3 cents per gallon of diesel. Not a bank account killer, for sure.
heavyhaulerss and t800kwopper Thank this. -
When you can see a difference that effects your pocketbook you cant help but like it. If we had the diesel fuel of days past with sulfur and all the other goodies we wouldn't need additives, a lot of R&D work has been done to make engines run reliably with todays fuels and a lot more needs to be done. They have had to resort to diamond coatings on some injectors so that they could live with the new fuels.
Cowpie1 Thanks this.
