Let's just agree to disagree. When you start making almost $1000 a month less during the cold months due to idling (yes it will come to that amount) you'll understand why you can't take off extra time for the holidays.

It seems that everytime someone says anything about spending a few dollars here or there or idling or anything that costs a dollar Steel Tiger always has something to say about this. I know idling costs money scanning costs money if you do it every now and then then so be it. If you don't want to then so be it. Some things has to be done for a certain reason. You can't say that this is gonna put you out of business. It is not a one size fits all.

Those "few dollars here or there" that Steel saves allows him to go traipsing around France for a month. He is the only Lease Operator I know of on this board that can do that, so he must be doing something right. I don't always agree with the Steel Tiger, but I respect him and his commitment.

Oh well if we want to harp on not wasting money, that traipsing around France for a month cost thousands of dollars that could have went towards the purchase of his truck which would have shortened his lease & put him in position to begin making actual O/O income that much faster.

Everybody has their priorities. If someone wants to be an elitist punk, it doesn't mean their soapbox is any better than anyone else's.

So your recommendation would be that he subjugate his personal time and fun so he can stop all this leasing fakery sooner and become a real trucker sooner...?

Nah. I'd opt for "traipsing around France," too.

Steel Tiger, 88 Alpha, hi beam and 3 others Thank this.

Or it can be looked at as a well deserved vacation for him and his family.

I don't always agree with Steel either, but he is not an elitist. He does make valid points and gives advise, but that doesn't mean it's his way or no way for everyone. He just points out what you can do or not do and let's you take it from there.

DenaliDad, Steel Tiger and 88 Alpha Thank this.

Nope. That might have been worth taking pictures of to sell to the gossip magazines.

If he's so into maximizing his income that every penny spent otherwise is going to put somebody out of business, absolutely.

I wonder if you are a "true" O/O and are threaten by the fact that Steel is possibly doing better than you are with his rental agreement. Hmmmm. I wonder
